@@leviturner3265 Hey Levi! That's actually a common mistake. What is up in Plano is the corporate headquarters - not the bottling plants or where the real magic happens. They moved up there along with the rest of the world in the early- to mid- 1990's along with the rush to get headquarters up in Plano along with EDS, PepsiCo, Frito-Lay, etc. But no... that's not where it's from - just good ol' Waco, TX.

Agreed! Think about how much less plastic waste would be in landfills and the ocean if we went back to glass bottles!!! Heck I wish milk delivery people would be brought back as well. There's potentially a lot of money to be made in that industry especially with all the different milk variations there are today, same thing should happen with bottled water! @@RedRoseSeptember22 product cost would be extremely high for milk with the 50+ different options available. It’s much easier to sell just one or two products. Keeps overhead down and waste low. Food cost would be exorbitant having to stock all those different milks, just enough of each one to rotate out etc. I would love a milkman to deliver organic cow’s milk (and a decent organic almond milk) though!

We were always a Dr Pepper family growing up. In the 90s, there was a time when my dad was drinking six cans of Dr Pepper a day! (No, soda isn't addictive at all.) Of course, soda was so cheap back then, I remember when you could get four 12 packs for $10 and a 2 liter was sometimes only $1. I've been to the Dr Pepper Museum in Waco, and it's pretty cool. I didn't know about all of those lawsuits and also didn't realize that Mr. Pibb was Coke's answer to Dr Pepper.

Trivia: David Naughton, who sang the "I'm a Pepper" commercial in the late 1970's, also starred in the short-lived late 70's sitcom called, "Makin' It". Naughton ended up singing the theme song to "Makin' It", which became a million-selling song and a Top 5 hit in the US. He also appeared in various sitcoms and drama TV shows from the 1970's to the 2010's.

In the 50s I drank Dr Pepper as a kid but when we moved to California in 58 it wasn’t available. Later as a teen I drank Diet Dr Pepper and was dismayed it wasn’t available when I moved to Hawaii in 1971. It seems like Coca Cola had the monopoly of what sodas were shipped back in those days. Have you ever heard of Jolt cola? It was sold in the 80s claiming to have all the sugar plus twice the caffeine.

@@mfburns7909Same... Only one soda I'm aware of had even more caffeine. It was called Afri cola. It was so potent that it only came in 8oz. bottles and was only available in Michigan. Maybe it's still around, who knows? I've never tried it but always wanted to. But I used to buy the big bottles of Jolt regularly as a teenager. 🙂🙂🙂 Edit: I just looked it up. As a teen I searched for highest caffeine soda and everything I said above was true at the time, according to whatever source I found. Now not so much. Here's what I just now found: After the Second World War, Afri-Cola became one of the most popular drinks in Germany and a symbol of the German Wirtschaftswunder. The USA product is in the same original high-caffeine formula and is sold in a 330ml version (11.2oz) tins.It is still crafted in Germany.

When people ask "Coke or Pepsi?", my answer is always Dr Pepper. But I did have to give up caffeine and sugar to prevent long term liver damage after high liver enzyme levels caused me to have a minor heart attack, so it's been a while since I've had a soda, period.

I haven't seen a Mr. Pibb for years now. Didn't know it was still made. I do the Diet Dr Pepper or the Dr Pepper No Sugar versions. And I thought I came up with drinking hot Dr Pepper. I had no idea it had been a thing in the past. A commercial and everything! I get the craziest looks and comments whenever I suggest it. I think its great on a cold day and soothing for a scratchy sore throat.

As a Texan, Dr Pepper is my blood as it’s my most consumed soda (I can tell the difference between a fountain DP and a bottle/can DP). However I do enjoy a Pibb, and is imo the best Coke product.

I am Canadian and I grew up for a large part of my early childhood-teenage life in the Eastern Townships of Southern Québec, in Bedford/Standbridge East area from 1985 to 1993. There was no Dr.Pepper available for sale anywhere in Québec in those years, and one day I got taken for a ride to Vermont to a town close to the border, Richford or some other place I do not recall, where I ate my first bag of Wise brand chips and washed those down with a bottle of my first ever Dr.Pepper. 😂Seriously... if you lived in Québec in those years you could only get Dr.Pepper from buying it in the United States. I do not know if Ontario or the Atlantic provinces had it, but I do know that the only time I could drink one was if I was able to get one while in Vermont.
