Today we’re checking out a generic 17” USB mini ceiling fan. Over the years I’ve been seeing many videos on these types of portable ceiling fans on KZbin, so that got me into purchasing one to evaluate if they’re any good. My first impressions are pretty good overall. The fan does stir up a steady breeze and it’s fairly quiet. The quality is still questionable and only time will tell how well this little fan holds up. Thanks for watching!

Right, it has a lot of magnetic resistance that causes the short spin down. It would definitely be neat to have an AC mini ceiling fan that takes longer to spin down.

The fan is same as my Kyzuku, however, my Kyzuku is AC 220V when yours is DC 5V USB. I think the Kyzuku is OEM of Weiye. I think this is an alternative of a mini ceiling fan that in area doesn't have the power cord, instead you can plug in to USB port.

I might be able to do it with one of the recent mini ceiling fans I got, but unfortunately not with this particular fan. It’s annoyingly assembled with hidden clips that aren’t designed to be undone. The ones I got recently however, have screws holding the motor together, so I should be able to take it apart and perhaps make a video when I get a chance.

@@TheSuperFanMan So, I was trying to adapt a remote to it to be a bit creative with it and since it has one of the older mounting systems, l let it hang by the hook on the side while I did the wiring, and after I did I tried to align it probably so I could swing the canopy up and it slid off the hook and fell, hit the bench l was standing on and two of the blades snapped off, luckily I took the glass shades off and the blades mainly took the blunt of the fall and I might try to order a new set of blades from Hunter but idk if they still sell the Beacon Hill because Home Hardware was the only place I knew where you could get them and my local Home Hardware stopped selling them

Too small fan, probably for shop counter or study table. But in india people are innovative. They manufacture small size high speed ceiling fans in low cost that operate directly from the mains supply. Its portable too. It hardly costs between $5-10. Ceiling fans range starts from $15 and goes upto several hundred dollars.
@TheSuperFanMan
@TheSuperFanMan Жыл бұрын
Neat! Seems like there’s a greater diversity in fans in India. I sure can’t say I’ve seen ceiling fans that inexpensive around here, other than these kinds of mini DC ceiling fans. I agree, a fan like this has fairly limited applications.
@Dave_en
@Dave_en Жыл бұрын
@@TheSuperFanMan There are many poor people in india. To cater their needs, inexpensive ceiling fans are manufactured by small local companies (mostly operated at home or rented place). But they are dangerous because they hang low and operate at 720, 900 and 1400 RPM. I know a man whose fingers almost got chopped off while he raised his hand to wear his shirt.🤣🤣🤣 I prefer around $20 regular fans as they are more durable and justifies its cost. Rest are sophisticated designer fans mainly preferred by looks and meant for the elite class. They look good in expensive hotels and palaces.

I really like the fan but Mine got ticking or knocking sound. It loud. Don't know anyway to fix it or need some w40
@TheSuperFanMan
@TheSuperFanMan 3 жыл бұрын
Is the sound similar to 8:38 in this video? If yes, it’s the motor’s stator fins rubbing against the rotor. The internals seem cheaply made so things don’t precisely line up the way they should. I was able to fix mine by opening it up and gently bending the stator fins to stop the rubbing. It was a very tedious task and the fan’s plastic motor casing suffered some minor damage from prying while opening. If it’s another sound, some WD-40 might work, though it will likely be a temporary fix. Unfortunately these fans are not designed to be easily serviced.

Comparing it to the mini ceiling fans we have down here, it looks great quality wise, but price wise, your's in my opinion is way overpriced, you could grab a fullsize 56" industrial ceiling fan for 23 Dollars lol. I’m definitely with you on the price! I wouldn’t say it’s worth more than $10 at the most. In North America, $23 won’t buy you any industrial ceiling fan lol. Even the cheapest are above at least $50. I’ve seen a handful of AC mini ceiling fans being sold in North America but you’re right, most tend to be 12V DC, or sometimes USB powered.

Really? Not to be rude ,just straightforward. Those things on the blades are sure going to prevent it from working , or not make it go fast enough or be as efficient as it could be... come on now !! say things that would really give us a chance to make an opinion on it that would probably cause us to say it’s not worth it. The fact that it is not the best balanced or whatever you want to call it as it spins does not stop it from working or performing out of all the things that you brought up It is not fair to who manufactures it...in this way I would still buy the unit to try it myself but I would never put this in a video because it is tedious and unnecessary to the working of the product...and takes up time just to film. I am usually a very positive person and nice at that , but this video really gets me because now I watch lots of them on things I will buy or how to do something or whether things are worth it but when I watch one of these and you’re not giving me the specifics that make a lot of sense or let me know if it will work efficiently or not waste my time... usually when people watch videos they want to know right away what’s wrong with the item or what’s good with the item and get their information to either buy it or not in about 5 or 10 minutes. We don’t watch these videos as movies , we watch them as little ads and go to the next subject or whatever else we do on KZbin. Just wanted to express this because you are good at this.... this could improve the videos that you make. Just saying. I don’t make these but if I do I will try to be as exact or specific as I can and get on and off as quick as I can so others can benefit with my videos. By the way I will be buying a unit like this that has a remote control and I’m sure it will work ... OK I will put it in an RV not a camper but I’m sure it will work for the reasons I want it. Thank you for the video. Sometimes a plain viewer can help with a suggestion .... if it doesn’t , then that’s OK but if I subscribe it will be because you don’t waste my time with useless information as things from the mold that are on the blade and not perfect. Etc....that’s it.. good luck with your videos and giving me the chance to State my opinion.
@TheSuperFanMan

I can definitely see that this video may feel drawn out and over-explained to people who are expecting it to be a concise review. I primarily make videos with a “show-and-tell” attitude, so I express my thoughts on the product from my perspective as an avid fan collector. Most videos on my channel don’t prioritize the crowd who want quick, information-packed videos. However, there are videos that I specifically make that are intended to be informative reviews, which are titled with “... | Review” at the end. Just as a background: I have many fans in my collection, ranging from newly introduced air circulators, to century-old antique fans, so I’m picky with every little detail when I check out new fans. Older fans were purely mechanically built without the use of computer CADs or robots, yet they were built with precision and had perfectly balanced blades that were manually balanced statically and dynamically. So in contrast, seeing poorly constructed and balanced fans of today that were made with the convenience of modern technology really bug me, so I often point out stuff like that when making videos. Obviously non-collectors will have a different view on this, thinking it’s just a cost saving measure, and it’s fine if the fan simply works and does what it should do. I’m assuming this is why you found this video to be not your cup of tea. That being said, I still appreciate the constructive feedback.
