Beautiful boat, outstanding job of restoration, thank you for sharing! just gorgeous!...I grew up on grampas 1955 42 foot Chris Craft (gold standard of boats), live aboard on the weekends during high school summer as grampas "bilge rat"...grampa said "a boat is a hole in the water you throw money into"...thanks for the memories....boy the electronics have sure changed since the 50's-60's

I’m glad there are people keeping these classics alive. I wish I had the money to throw at a beauty like this, or Cullen’s boat. I’m in the market for a weekend cruiser, but I’m gonna have to go all in up front for something newer, because I don’t have the time or expertise to keep these classics going.

You did a Fantastic job redoing this one Buddy , I grew up in South Florida and have been boating for over 35 years i’ve owned 17 or 18 of them so far all types and sizes made the Bahama crossing several times you shouldn’t have many issues or Worries in the 47 with good running Diesels be smart on the Weather watching for the Gulf Stream and adjust accordingly once your in The Bahamian Waters you have plenty of Barrier Islands to safe Anchor and hide out from any bad weather just keep a good eye on Radar for Sneaky Vessels that may be Pirates Scoping out your boat. they target live Aboards knowing we have cash and valuables i strongly suggest carrying Arms and Ammunition despite Bahamian laws etc Customs are basically lazy give them a nice present and a cold Cocktail and let them do their Paperwork if you aren’t Smuggling they pretty much leave you alone i’ve never let them count my Ammo on my way in or out and face it We have the right to protect our Family and Home i’ve seen Vessels playing games on following me on Radar and made a general radio transmission that my Vessel is aware of them and we are fully Prepared to defend. ourselves. if they do not state their Intentions that incurred no problems as they retreated and did not return damn right i slept with a Semi Auto under my pillow with spare Clips within reach but without need to use it. it was also nice to know i had the Advantage if i needed it as. i. know the layout of my Boat better than any one else will and i had my own Burglar Alarm set in the event of anyone Boarding or trying to enter the Cabin Areas but overall the Bahamian Waters are fairly safe and there are plenty of visiting Boats that will look out for one another enjoying the same lifestyles

Nice boat. I almost bought one of these, but I had a lot of other irons in the fire, and I knew that it would be a money and a time pit. It was a 1970's 410 Commander, and everything was basically mechanically good, but everything was original. When I say original I mean down to the green screen radar with the periscope snorkel to the 454 gasoline engines... it would have been 10 times what the boat cost in new parts, and ALL of my other projects would have been put on hold for a year or more. I can just imagine what you have into making this one shine like a new dime. Kudos on a job well done, Brother! :)

I grew up on the Chesapeake...I can relate to your synopsis regarding boat size. We had neighbors who went out every fall and traded up for a larger boat...the standard complaint was that the one they were letting go wouldn't crest the waves as well as the larger newer one. We used to laugh when they weren't around. They invested a fortune in trade-in losses over 4 years. After they got the largest one...they stopped boating due to kids getting bigger with girlfriends/not wanting to hang with the parents....again we laughed. I knew a fellow who ran a tour business in Annapolis harbor who also ran the US boat show, there. He was fortunate enough to be able to afford a fleet of various size and types of craft. Now he had the right idea. His tour boat was immense but he could still dock at the city pier (which he owned). He could decide which boat he wanted to use after he got to the dock. Nothing like money to solve problems such as that.

Connies, Roamers and Commanders! The heyday of Chris Craft, making boats out of wood, steel, aluminum and fiberglass in the same model year. And don't forget the plywood Cavaliers and the lapstrake Sea Skiff series. Anyone remember the 36' Corvette, the Jim Wynn hull design? Or the wood Corinthians? Those were the glory years of Chris Craft, the 60's and 70's.
