Whatever RBR says publicly, they have had to cover for SOMETHING bad that Checo did internally, and internally, they are furious. Daniel will return. @@zeusa7075 Yet they stayed close friends. Daniel always said it wasn't Max but that he felt put aside by the team. Which has hurt him for obvious reasons. Which is why he left. Yet what he found at other teams wasn't what he expected I reckon, as he could never truly get his mojo back it seemed. Which could be due to the way the teams worked internally as a more serious business where you are collegues and not friends working towards a goal. You can already see the relief in Danny in recent photos and videos of his announcement with and without Christian Horner at his side. That big fat ear to ear smile that was gone for many years that came from the core of his sole and heart returned in the blink of an eye during that announcement.

He seems happier than what he has been this whole season at McLaren. He's still going to be in the races even if not a GP driver. He is going to help the team as much as Checo and Max (and most likely a good influence to both) and he will have time to rest from this season. I think it was a good move.
