I see a lot of comments around the web about how creepy the relationship between them seems. But those people usually haven’t read or seen it. There are many kinds of love. Besides Elias doesn’t actually understand what a “wife” exactly is nor does he seem to have any kind of sexuality at all? In many ways he’s basically a kid in a big boney body. This scene was both funny, awkward and cute ☺️

He saved her from auction, from her lifespan, and even tries to save her from herself and her lack of concern for her own life. And she saves him from loneliness. He's never made any sort of move to be creepy, most things just come from a lack of understanding and he tries his best to fulfill whatever wishes she has. They're just baby beans who need each other

Someone was asking for recommendations on Sci Fi with aliens who don't think like humans do. I recommended this show and folk lore on the Fairy Folk or FAE if you want beings that really don't think like humans.

one of the great things of this story is how Chise learns to want to live again and regains some selfworth whilst helping Elias learn what living as a conscious and personable being actually means but also teaches him human emotions. Their Relationship grows from preconceptions and hopelesness to true affection and understanding.

The reason I loved this anime so dearly (other than its awesomeness ofc) was because the transition from emotional and poignant to comedy is so abrupt, from beautiful to chubby chibi is so quick that you just laugh anyway x'D

I already read the manga... Is really made me feel sad. The story is so sweet and beautiful yet its dark and sad... And the anime add more to the feels i dont know if i could watch the next episode 5... I really hope the author will end this sweet story with happy ending and not sad ending... And the flashback arc of each characters kinda deep sad especially for character that lost their dearest person beside em...oh i feel like i cant take the story anymore...

Many slaveholding societies of the past did have very rudimentary rights for slaves, and some people have knowingly sold themselves or their loved ones temporarily when the alternatives were really bad. Terms for a slave and for a wife were either similar or the same, including when the slave was male or a eunoch/small boy sold for sexual favors. (Most notable in Hellenistic cultures.) So being a slave wasn't worse than being a pet-if you were qualified to give up your sexual autonomy, and chose to sell yourself knowing what you'd be put through. Being neutered and then raped by someone with a venereal disease had to be pretty nasty, though. Even for those who sold themselves knowing that was a risk. Surviving castration before anesthetic and antibiotics did increase a male slave's value substantially, though. Since it was such a risky procedure.

the only part i didn't like but i got it because in Japan they do group bathe (sento) and even coed (konyoku) bathed until the 1900's so a "parent" washing a child that was especially dirty is not considered unusual
