Welcome Home! - Hotdogs! (Unfinished WIP)

Boo! I’ve been a fan of Welcome Home for a bit now, and upon the new website update I found one of my favorite audios ever! I decided to sketch it out, not sure if it classifies as a storyboard, animatic, or something else. It’s a work in progress, not sure if I’ll ever make anything more of it, but it’d be cool if I did! :)

While I get the purpose of Wally's monotone voice, I always found it unsettling because of the possible lore behind Wally and his role in the story of Welcome Home. But this animatic made his voice way more endearing and cute.

Yup! I like the contrast between what was possibly seen of the characters’ personalities vs. what we’re seeing in the horror part of it! I like imagining how they could’ve interacted in the show. :)

Agreed! It always feels so wierd. Like I like to believe he's victim (that's kinda my head cannon) but his words sound so.... forced. Like he's either being evil or manipulated but either way his voice gives me a bad feeling...

@@Jai_545 Well I do want to point out his voice may be that way because he autistic, his flat, toneless voice may play in to the stories theme of ableism and how some can perceive ones with it as "creppy".

@@TheVampireFishQueen true... very true.. but in the interview when he isn't in the town or the house (where he is always being watched) he sounds much more lively and emotional then when home can see and hear him. He always seems to be choosing his words very carefully... I think we're onto something here.

I love this skit and others because we get to hear Wally just vibing with his friends. He sounds so different to how the fandom interpreted him early on. I already loved Wally before but now I love him more! Your animation is SO VERY precious! You did so great capturing the dialog and actions from the audio!! I loved the use of very puppet looks to the characters. Howdy I think is my favorite here. I loved the look you gave him, he's super expressive! ❤

I like how Wally's voice is just on the edge between "relaxing softspoken friend" and "Eerily calm monster". Makes it harder to get a proper read on him and makes him even more unsettling

My theory has always been that the show is trapped in reruns and Wally is the only one who can feel it. So the reason he is monotone is because he has been though the same stories over and over.

Maybe Wally is Canonicaly a puppet. Like how Julie is a Rainbow monster & Barnaby's a dog. Wally is a puppet both in the show & out. That's why he seems to be the only one being taught, besides the audience.
