Hello Sharon. I love all of your talks. They are exactly what people need to hear these days. I am grateful for all the unconditional love and joy you have given me this year. I am a deli clerk and I loved the part about the grocery clerk. Kindness from customers is what makes me want to serve in such a consumer driven society. “Love is an ability” and one each of us have to work on day by day, hour by hour, moment to moment. Thank you the practice of loving kindness. You look beautiful with red hair by the way!

Hi Sharon, Thank You for the 10-day Loving-Kindness Challenge. I've come to believe that in the background of American culture, a message is playing, It says " You all have an equal opportunity to be excluded and be made to feel unwanted, and unvalued. In that context, the concept of Loving Kindness must seem disingenuous at best except, for those of us who have been searching for it.

Having a thought like loving kindness, creates the active state giving the purpose of freely being light-hearted toward all being, others, ourselves, whether tangible or not. I am so inattentive it shocks me, it came from a low mood, and being afraid and feeling invisible. I can change and become aware in the shared space of being in the generosity of lightness and the inner smile shared.

Sharon Translation's are always a bit difficult, among people. I just finished listening to some of Susan Pivers thoughts on lovingkindness, as being part of the 4 Immeasurables ,( Buddhist Teachings), Qualities that Help Teach,&, keep us in Balance, unlocking the true qualities of Being.

Sharon Salzberg quote highlights from this video: “The term ‘lovingkindness’ is the common translation of the word ‘metta’ in the Pali language, the language of the original Buddhist text.” “The literal translation of ‘metta’ is ‘friendship’, so it's like developing the art of friendship with ourselves and with others.” “Metta is a state of the heart-it's about freedom of the heart and a state of inclusion and paying attention differently to ourselves and to others.” “The word I try to use most in translating ‘metta’ is ‘connection’. It's a profound sense of connection to ourselves; it's a profound knowing that our lives are interconnected, they're intertwined.” “The bottom line truth is that our lives are interconnected and interdependent.” “Lovingkindness is precisely a strength because it relates to the truth of how interconnected our lives are.” “What we do matters. What we are dedicated to, where we put our energy, matters because life is interdependent.” “The practice of lovingkindness is like a stretch-it's an opening, it's an expansion-it's being willing to look at ourselves from another angle.” “We need some space, we need something bigger-a bigger sense of who we are-and that's what we cultivate in the practice of lovingkindness.” “The gift of attention itself is like a gift of love.” “The practice of lovingkindness is stretching how we pay attention so that we can come closer to the fundamental truth.” “There's a deep knowing that the construct we live under of ‘self and other’ and ‘us and them’ is just a construct-and we might be able to utilize it, but we needn't be imprisoned in it.” “Compassion is the movement of the heart in response to seeing pain or suffering.” “My favorite sense of lovingkindness is as a capacity-it's an ability within each of us.”

I wish I could have loving kindness for myself but I have more anger towards me than anything else for the past choices I made that changed my path, I am trying to ease up on myself but it really never goes away...I wish it could be different....my life is better now but I have lost so much as well.....

Please don't give up on yourself. You can do it with mindfulness and loving kindness. Just try it.

Regret is very powerful and it can paralyze you if you allow it to. It’s a visitor that will move in if you let it. I’ve been there. Try to learn from it and go forward because you can’t undo the past. Accept your mistakes and your imperfections. Sorry to preach I just could relate in a way to what you said and this is what has helped me. Best.
