Sri Pada (Sacred Footprint, left by the Buddha as he headed towards paradise) is a 2,243 m (7,359 ft) tall conical mountain and a Buddhist pilgrimage site located in central Sri Lanka.
Variously known as Adam's Peak (the place where Adam first set foot on earth after being cast out of heaven), or perhaps most poetically as Samanalakande (Butterfly Mountain; where butterflies go to die).

After Sri Lanka fell under Europeans they could not pronounce our local names thus they used their names to describe places. They could not pronounce the name “Sri Pada(Lord Buddha’s Foot Print)” thus they named it “Adam’s Peak”.Recorded history of Sri Pada(Adam’s Peak) is available with us while it is in our (Buddhist) religious records also. They could not pronounce the name “Rama Setu”(3 km wide at the widest point) thus they named it “Adam’s Bridge”. In this case also recorded history is available in “Ramayanaya” with Indians. There is a massive rock resembling to “Sigiriya” on Colombo-Kandy road named “Bathalagala” which Europeans named as “Bible Rock”. Hope someday somebody will not say Bible was written there.There are many more places in the world named eg: Adam’s River, Adam’s Lake’ Adam’s Rock, Adam’s Falls, Adam’s Bayou & many more beginning with Adam. There are thousands of foot prints on rocks all over the world all of which are not Lord Buddha’s. One in Sri Lanka, one in Burma & may be 2 or 3 in Thailand. Others are rock carvings. If someone says all those three thousand odd foot prints are Buddha’s please don’t believe because it is an insult to Buddhists. Why? Lord Buddha’s Foot shape (& bodily features also) is very unique resembling to a rectangle with one end having a semicircular shape which is the Heel end. All toe nails are in one straight line without a taper like normal humans. Foot is very wide,sole underneath has 108 auspicious signs(please do a Google search).Buddha is a Super Human Being having exceptional supernormal abilities. I will cut short without going in to more details. I did not mean to hurt anybody’s feelings,I just wanted to reveal the little I know because doubts those white people left behind are harmful to our peaceful co-existence.
