This does sound interesting! I read about it in the Fusion Dizzy. It is a bit disappointing that there seems to be no way of sharing the games publicly, but I do like the idea of being able to play my own applets on the Switch. I don't have a smartphone and many tools for Nokia development are not available anymore, which would make this my first portable platform I can develop for. And it is cheap! :o

I think the mere fact there exist the ability to write your own functions and create using the image and tileset editors makes this extremely powerful. At first I was thinking it might just be another glorified RPG Maker that seems to be on the rise. This is far from that and I’m excited to take a look at it. I might just pick this up off the store. One thing I’d consider is figuring out where player creation rights come into play. Is there ever a potential to utilize fuzes libraries/engine for independent author releases ? That would set this development program over the top if it could figure out how to operate with Nintendo in that regard.

@FUZEArena4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Sean! This is a tricky question. If you made a game using the provided assets within Fuze, then it would be understandably very difficult to make that game again due to the licence agreements. However, if you were to write a game that uses entirely your own graphics, then that's a little different. It would be as difficult as it is to make the game from the beginning. Fuze is not a platform for publishing and selling games - you would have to go through the standard procedures of any other game developer.

@@FUZEArena thank you so much for replying! Another thing, I'd like to report a couple bugs. First off, the friends tab softlockes the game, and when trying to load a file with a capitalization error seems to crash the game when running the project. Last thing, is it possible to have a save data fearure? Where you can save progress for a game? I might be blind, and I hope I am, because ALL of the games I want to make are built apon having a way to save data. Without that, I can't make any of the games I wanted to. Smilebasic 3ds allowed you to save arrays into a file, that could be loaded at any time. Does FUZE4 do this? I don't know the internals of the app itself but if it's checking for friends who have fuze4 then did you create an alternative if no friends have fuze4? That's the only thing I can think of.

What's the difference between me getting this or Smilebasic?
@FUZEArena5 жыл бұрын
The mai difference is the language itself. SmileBasic is very much a traditional Basic - or at least much closer to. Fuze is its own language, designed to sit between block-based languages and professional languages like Python. The syntax in Fuze is designed to be easy to pick up, forgiving and easily transferable to other languages in the industry. There are lots of tutorials included in Fuze, as well as a growing community website with lots of users helping each other and sharing their amazing creations. You can speak to us (the devs) very easily too, getting feedback and guidance on your projects. Fuze also contains a frankly absurd number of assets to create with! This is also going to be growing as we go forward :)
@johnernest81093 жыл бұрын
Coming from a C#/C/C++/BASIC/PASCAL/ASM/JS/Python/Unity/ThreeJS background, I feel like I got trolled a tad buying this. After doing a little research it would appear that Nintendo is to blame not so much the devs of Fuze. They don't want folks playing homebrew emulators or copying commercial games on the Switch, I get it. I think if you were allowed to load files from a microSD, specifically for 3d models, sprite sheets, and music/sfx, even code files, then it would have been well worth the purchase. Having to rely on a third party asset library though makes it quite limiting, many real devs want their own custom assets and will want to use third party programs on the PC/Mac. I would much much much prefer to write my code in say Visual Studio Code and load up FBX/MP3/MP4/PNG assets I've made in third party programs from microSD. I really think that could all be done safely without compromising the security of the Switch itself, after all, it's my Switch that I bought. The lack of being able to use tcp client sockets is another disappointment, as it would be cool to make small apps on the Switch that connect to APIs and do cool data-driven things, but unlike the lack of microSD asset support, the lack of tcp client sockets is more understandable. It would also be way cooler if classes with methods were supported in the language too.
