You're my inspiration that even if I have to live most of my life homesteading in the back yard in a city, maybe in my golden years I'll get to live out my peaceful country dream (maybe my husband will be ready to slow down by then too) ❤ I love watching you! Keep sharing!

I grew up with a Daddy who had a mother who gardened. So he also gardened, and last year, at 85 was his first year with no garden. I was, of course, expected to work in the gardens, as they produced a great deal of our food. I always wanted flowers, and that was not a priority, but I was given one rose. I wish I could say I still have a remnant of it, but I cannot. Throughout my adult life, from two apartments to several homes I have always had a garden, once even gardening in my neighbors yard after her husband passed away. Now, retired, I have about thirty roses, and just set in some cuttings today. It is just a lifelong love. I try new things every year, usually I can’t plant green beans till May 15, but I started them indoors. The transplant was rocky, but today I harvested a small batch. After six years of failure I think I am going to grow okra.! The nights here are very cool even in late sunnier. It is a grand adventure that one could never learn everything in ten lifetimes. This year I have began keeping notes on my Papa Bear ‘s advice, as I know I won’t have him forever. It is a blessing to be able to share our knowledge.

I had to think very hard to remember times when I Didn't have a garden. It's a huge part of my life and I love to experiment with new things too. Grow that okra!
