Congratulations for such good contents, for kitesurfing by years and now wingfoiling. If you have time, you may possibly make a video explaining the most efficient way to swim on the wingfoil board to move upwind (is it better to use both hands, one hand by one, to do it quickly or slowly, far upfront the board or just side of it, what is the best position of the back, the head, the legs, how to maintain the wing with your feet…) And to compare the speed and efforts to move upwind between swimming on the board directly upwind and move near the beach and walk upwind on the water pushing the board with the foil in up position. 😎

Hi Alex, I have just reactivated my Membership. FYI, in case you don't know, one cannot Join as a member of your channel from the YT app on iPhone or iPad (at least I couldn't) as the Join button is not displayed, even if I'm logged into YT inside the app. I had to go on a web browser and log into YT to finally see the Join button. In any case, here is a video request: You have already made a great video about the wind window. Can you make another video (or videos, one for kiting one for winging) about the RELATIVE wind window, how it moves and changes according to the speed and direction of travel, and how it affects how you should fly the kite/wing? Thanks. Your content is always in a category of its own, miles from anyone else's 🙂

Hi Mike, thanks for supporting my channel. That's correct, there has been in issue with iProducts. FYI I got an email from Google saying that memberships should be working on iPhone and iPad soon. That's a good topic idea thanks. I've got an extended wind window video on my list. Although, if there's a skill or trick where the change of apparent wind is really important then I usually show that in the tutorial (for example, in the jumping higher videos, I show how the wind window raises the faster you descend, which really matters!! or in wing foil tricks where you foil fully downwind, I'll show the apparent wind as that is something you actively have to deal with, or in the video about foiling higher upwind and downwind courses the apparent wind is shown as it will change the angle of your hand wing etc). Whereas in videos where the apparent wind is not a big factor I'll leave it out in order to focus on other information. So this is built into the kiting and foiling playlists to a certain extent.

@@kitesurfcollege Hi Alex, thanks for your reply. It took me some time to get back to you. 1) Yes, you do show the apparent wind in your videos when it matters and that's helpful. What I had in mind is a video that explains how the entire wind window (the quarter sphere) shifts according to your direction and speed of travel when you kitesurf compared to when you start/are static. 2) I also have a question on your wing foil video titled "Upwind & Downwind Foiling Tips" (kzbin.info/www/bejne/ooTRaZqur5aDeZI). At the 2m25s mark, you say "When the wing's chord lines up with the board's rocker, you lose all forward drive. Because you lose forward drive when trying to hold higher upwind angles, you will need to be more efficient with your hand wing to hold those high-upwind courses." a) What do you mean exactly by "be more efficient" and b) can you still have the board move forward with only lateral pull from the wing (kind of like a sailboat with a keel), or is it only the forward pull of the wing that drives the board? 3) Could you make a video highlighting the differences between closed-cell foil kites and inflatable kites. They do behave differently. I was shocked by how a closed-cell foil kite flies much more over your head when at the zenith compared to an LEI kite. How does that affect jumping (and other) techniques?

@@mikefink7142 hi Mike. Thanks. A dynamically animated wind window would be interesting to see. It don't think it would greatly enhance most beginner's experience though (for example, as you ride say left foot forward, the window shifts to your right and high power would then be to the right of downwind, but the higher power section that you can make use of to regain speed when riding to the left would still be downwind, much like with static kite flying).

For the wing foiling question. When you pull on the back hand enough, the chord (or approximately the boom or strut) becomes parallel with the center line of the board. At that point the wing's force is perpendicular to the board's direction. You will then loose speed and can't keep going. There's no forwards force to balance drag. You can ride a while as the drag forces on a foil are low. Or you could pump a little to compensate for the drag etc. Basically when you head too far upwind you will notice you can't keep speed and that you boom/strut is almost parallel with the board.

Thanks. I am working on an intro to ram air kites. They are very different in their performance, how you handle them, how you launch/land, how you jump and there's quite a few tricks to using them safely.
