You have to fix that radio and your horn, not only are they required by IMO regs but they’re very important for safety, both are vital signalling devices. Also not sure how you’re navigating, you going by ecdis or paper charts?

Dmitrius yeah, if you actually know what you’re doing. I doubt Dylan has actually studied celestial navigation for any length of time. Also you can’t navigate accurately by stars alone, especially not on a sailing vessel where leeway is a major factor.

@@stoutyyyy You can. leeway is factored in if you are doing a sun run sun including a noon site. Once you plot the position after say doing a morning sun site followed by a midday site you have a perfectly good position. Usually within 3 miles and within 12 on a bad one. The afternoon sun site brings it in even more....for coastal navigation you need a paper chart and a hand bearing compass. An electric log is needed by both to a certain degree. I am rusty with the old sextant as it has not been used by me since 2003!

Talk to me more about making the boat fully electric dude... How much energy generation did you calculate you need.. Combination of wind and solar? What were they suggesting as a battery bank size? you mention 30 mins of runtime every couple of days.. What was the engine size / power equivalent as compared to the Yanmar D ...... and anything else youy care to mention HIT ME WITH IT.. (Or do a video Ya know, you are good at that :-D )

the normal states of things on a boat is for it not to work... working condition is an anomaly onboard that only last a few a hours and its acheived by superhuman effort and moneytary loss. i know what im talking about, im a mechanic, thanks guy for buying all those complex equipment for me to repair... it'll work for a few days and then break again, its normal its a boat! cheers!
