This was my favorite Christmas song. I was devastated by the recent revelations involving Chris Rice. I didn’t think I could enjoy the song ever again. But, now I find it reminds me of the true nature of what Christ came to rescue us from. He didn’t only come to save moderate sinners, those who have never done anything all that bad. He took on flesh to save every sin of the flesh. Every. Sin. I listen to this song now and pray God helps me recognize the true dark depths from which He drew me.

I hadn't heard the stuff about Chris. Seems credible enough. Either way, though...the song is a perfect encapsulation of the gospel for me. And I know my own wretchedness. I am not eager to dismiss others because of theirs. I hope that Chris finds repentance and healing, as well as others who may have suffered.

Thank you for posting this. While I cannot fathom how a heart that wrote these deep and beautiful lyrics as well as so many others could commit the sin of molestation, it shows how far we can fall. ALL of us

I’ve never heard this one but it is so very appropriate for this world today. Thank you for reminding us that Jesus, the only son of the most high God, was born on this day and we need to show him the love, respect and honor he showed to us and respect his birth as well as his life and death. 🙏. It was for us he did what he did, not for himself, we need to appreciate it very much.

Finest Nativity song ever written. Or at least the finest I have heard. I was asked to sing it at church years ago. Had to get help and turn it into a duet. Couldn't sing it through without breaking. Still can't. It makes a lovely duet, though...

I am convinced that this man's songs are inspired by the Holly Spirit; can you not hear his heart for GOD, his songs are as beautifull as the Psalms of david, who else but the Holy Spirit could write songs like this, real talk !!! PS. Well done Chris, well done.
