Avatar Wan using spirit bending to start the cycle would have been nice, or just have the spirits be peace and conflict instead of dark side light side. @@tortoiseoflegends4466 1. His ideology is based on a real one. And there's nothing outwardly idiotic about it. Vaatu and Raava appear respectively to be representations of darkness and chaos and light and peace in the yin-yang (Taìjí tú) concept in Chinese philosophy, which is used to describe the way in which opposite forces are interconnected and interdependent in the natural world. When Tenzin, Pema, and their children arrive in the Southern Water Tribe, Jinora and Ikki dismount their bison via an airbending technique known as the air scooter, a move invented by their paternal grandfather, Avatar Aang. At the end of the episode, Jinora and Ikki come gliding in using traditional Air Nomad gliders. The way Katara discovered Korra leaving the Southern Water Tribe is similar to the way Kanna discovered Katara and Sokka leaving in the second episode of the original series. In both cases, a young person is leaving, somehow affecting the Avatar, and the elder lets them go. When Korra arrives in Republic City and sees the great statue of Avatar Aang for the first time, she stares at it just like Aang stared at the statue of Avatar Roku at the Southern Air Temple. A schematic for a mecha tank can be seen on the wall during the Lieutenant's conversation with Amon at the end of the episode. Jinora refers to Katara by the name "Gran Gran", which is the term that Sokka and Katara used to refer to Kanna. When talking to Katara, Jinora asks what happened to Zuko's mother.

Compared to ATLA, TLoK definitely has way more flaws but somehow it's become my favorite of the two. I fucking love this show and I'm so excited to see it with you guys!!
@danielwhyatt32782 жыл бұрын
They reeeally started this series of so well. I only actually saw TLoK for the first time this year and it blew me away. You are totally right about Sokka whether he was the father or not. I still very much wonder about a lot of this. Especially as she has a sister. And yeah, one of the best things about this version of the story is show 'just how much' everything has changed, and whether the Avatar is even strong enough or needed anymore in the changed and conflicted world AND I LOVE IT. And it only gets better with her from here.

Same, the world building and characters was always seems so flat and boring compared to avatar, and a lot of the things makes little sense given how TLA ended. I don't even remember anyone else than korra and tenzin, as they really din't really stick out. There was a funny boy and a boyfriend too, but can't remember their names, and some emo kinda girl they also hang out with later.

@@-JustHuman- uh Mako and his brother... idk the girls name. The most memorable parts... or just the only parts I remember is with original characters from ATLA. For me the time jump seemed too big... or maybe I would've been more intrigued if it were much further in the future without any of the original characters involved... idk

This story takes place roughly 70 years after The Last Airbender. In ATLA, they had steam powered machines. That is really an accurate depiction of how fast technology advanced between the invention of steam power, and the internal combustion engine, and the modern city. In real life, that change happened extremely fast. So that sudden upgrade in technology is accurate. It really did happen in less than a century.

Man, LoK might have issues here and there, but fight choreography, animation (most of it), and even just watching through it for the first time after finishing The Last Airbender is still so nice. It's issues are annoying once you start thinking more and more about them, but if you just go in just for the ride, it's still cool. And it still has so many good things in itself, and watching the first episode always reminds me of that.

I'm surprised no one has talked about how much the Southern Water Tribe has improved since Katara and Sokka's days. I'm late AF and I'm sure someone explained this already but the reason why Republic City is so developed is because it's essentially all the best minds from all over the world coming to this progressive place. Even big cities like Ba Sing Se from the OG show are not as developed. I think Republic City was meant to showcase the best of human ingenuity if everyone could live together peacefully. Whereas the other nations are slower to develop because they're still insular. It's essentially the industrial boom of late 19th century and early 20th century America with the immigration all that.
