As a native Texan, I can tell you that we've only had 3 extreme cold events in my 60 years on this earth. 1983, 2020, and 2022. It's extremely rare that temperatures get that low all the way down to the coast.

Monahans- Love West Texas. Heat aint so bad if your in the shade but the traffic does suck(sometimes) on I20. Seen alot of Cali roll thru and alot rollin out. I can't complain. Hardly anyone from out of state stays in the desert.

I wasn't born in Texas, but I got there as soon as I could. We lived there for a couple of years when my husband was stationed at Ft. Hood. I can remember one "spring" when a bunch of the state was on fire in April, and it didn't rain until August! God bless Texas!
