@@christinaanamaria It become a crime solving simulator basically. Solving all the cases in the game, which are 100+ cases. So you’ll spend a lot of time solving them and if you fail some, then you can try to get all correct if you want to.

Hell, they could just allow players to add their own and it'd be great. Maybe limiting it to those who beat the game to avoid too much stupidity.

Considering how similar the investigation portion is to Papers Please (just add in Welcome to the Game hacks essentially), they could easily follow along with that game's approach and just randomly generate character names and stories (stories would be harder, either AI based, or far more likely mad-lib story templates where they can swap out key details as needed), and have you determine innocence by going through the files that way. It would be complex, most definitely, but I'm sure not impossible. Then also have a small handful of preset stories mixed in, of course.

The problem with the coprophiliac wasn't his eating habits...in one of his texts he was talking about getting the stuff straight from the source, so-to-speak, and in a roundabout way he was talking about murdering a young woman to get it. He seemed to have already picked a target, too. That's why he was guilty, not his obsession but the lengths he'd go to in order to get his 'fix'.

he's is so caught up in his speedrun methods, past experiences, and telling chat they don't know what their talking about he misses out on easy clues like the arsonist and the coprophiliac, like all he had to do is just read for two seconds and that would become clear to him why these two were guilty haha

tbf on why people either drop it or play on casual: the problem isn't just that it's difficult, the problem is that it sometimes gets difficult to the point of being tedious. it's like, as an example: let's say you have a game in which every 10 minutes a dice roll is what decides whether you die or not, if you can't influence the roll then that's a crap mechanic, you can do everything right and still die. just needing to be lucky is not a fun mechanic. but let's say you need to bring a chicken to the dice roll table and sacrifice it to ensure a good result. then it's your own choice to either have a random result and risk it, or to bring a chicken. it gives agency for a player to know that it's their own fault, and not just a random timer/roll that fucked them up. just getting unlucky is not a fun way to lose a game. the amount of chickens can also be a mechanic to limit run time of a single gameplay session, a roll every 10 minutes and you only have 6 chickens, then you can limit gameplay to a bit over an hour, and depending on your luck, you could get a bit of extra time to finish up, which turns it into a possible clutch mechanic which can actually feel rewarding. Like how 'welcome to the game' also has a few tedious things cause there's so many different mechanics that can kill you (lucas, noir, kidnapper,breather,...) , but it doesn't always teach you how to work with them. and not everyone enjoys going to the wiki to investigate. giving some pointers and hints, either in game in a page, or in a hint on the deathscreen, will give the player a way to progress without having to study the wiki to learn how to play. The dollmaker is a very good example of a possible improvement to increase player agency, most people make the link that he'll only show up after checking his site. but let's say you want to give the players more agency on easy mode: just add a "tracking bar" at the top of the dollmaker page, or give it a pop-up that says 'I found you' which is a more clear indicator to teach people that he'll only shows up after you visit the page. and give the page link a recognizable format, if people figure out the format they can use that to actively avoid the dollmaker page. putting the agency back into the hands of the player, rather than in the hands of RNG. (I know, not the best example, but it's just an example to hopefully illustrate what I mean) don't get me wrong, I love these types of games, they're really well done and are really good at building the atmosphere. I'm just spitballing here as to why I think they have a limited playerbase. I heard a lot of people love watching let's plays of them but hate playing them, and I think this fine line between difficult and tedious might be the issue here. regularly making a death feel more like a bad roll of the dice rather than a mistake the player made. leading to having to restart and do the early game all over again.

At one point I had 25 cats living 8n my house!!! A friend's wife kept taking in kittens while he was at work and they never got them spayed or neutered, sooooo....they had A LOT of cats!!! And she didn't clean their litter ever. She never cleaned their water bowls, and couldn't be bothered to even pour dry food in the bowls.. So I volunteered to take the females and babies (they only had 3 unfixed adult males) and find them homes!! I only had 4 litter boxes, yet they were cleaned at least once a day. Everyone was well fed, they all got wet food once a day and access to dry food all day. They all found homes!!! Besides the one calico girl I kept...my Violet 💜

This game always left a sour taste in my mouth cuz of how the dev acted around it.. Shaming and trolling people and considering making an OnlyFans for the villain because he got an army of simps. (Totally wasn't eating up all the attention since it resembled himself slightly.) But watching you play it was a fun way to consume the game that I couldn't get myself to buy. Add to that his trolling backdoor in WTTG2 and the way he reacted to Insym taking too long to play his multilayer game.. oh and the way he fixes speedrun bugs but never actually game breaking bugs... Yeah he's ick.. but he does make good games. Usually.

I resent that this is titled WTTG3 (I get it, it gets views and speaks to what people know) But this game was a lot of...fun...when it came out I personally kept notes on every single suspect with the intent to beat normal mode, but I've never made the plunge. I have all achievements except no jumpscares, normal, and nightmare. Wow...69 hours played, that's crazy. Last played date is my birthday, 8/15/2020, same day as a "giga nerf" patch haha I really wish RWS wasn't cancelled. 😭

That's basically the exact opposite of difficulty. RNG isn't a skill thing, making your game rely on it doesn't make it difficult, it makes it quite literally a game of chance.

@@llamaczechI meant that the game puts you in such a ridiculous time crunch (i.e., having to constantly check for the kidnapper while being expected to solves tons of suspicious person reports) that you end up having to shred reports without even going through them, all in order to meet the nightly quota. All you can do is hope that at least some of the reports you’re shredding are about innocent people and that you don’t exceed your allotted number of mistakes.

@desiderata954 yeah, the roster of suspects you get is what dictates the length of your run, which is literally up to RNG. Making your speed runs a game of chance, a good run is getting lucky and having more suspects you can shred.

I think the weird thing with this game is how disconnected the killers feel to the game itself, at least in WTTG you're doing stuff that attracts the killers, here they're just kind of around and it feels like whoever you're playing as would have to do all the busywork to keep the killers away regardless of if she was doing all the computer stuff. Like how does anyone live here with these guys just kidnapping and killing people constantly? XD
