Probably already been mentioned but I'll say it again anyway cause it's just so impressive. The entire "Inside" special was made by Bo alone, in his house. He did all the music, all the arrangements, all the effects, all the filming, everything all while alone in his house during quarantine.

honestly, Bo was more Lyrically Witt but he mentioned in an interview once that those "video's at the time were too fast pace for people to enjoy the double and triple entendres." due starting youtube and comedy at the golden age of the internet he found witty lyrics wasn't the best at the time and leaned alot more into the comical side of his Witt. I find alot of his old stuff better and more complex.

His latest Netflix special, Inside, is full of social commentary and wry observation about the entertainment industry and his place in it. Welcome to the Internet is part of that. His deepest one is "That Funny Feeling" but it takes more than one listen to make sense of it. Even Knox didn't catch it all in one listen. I'd love to hear your reactions to it after 4 or 5 listens and some thought.

@@jasonbuckley4118 His older stuff is so freaking clever. Not that the newer stuff isn't - Inside is one of my favorite pieces of media ever. But the doubles and triple entendres were insane. I started following him maybe 2007-2008 in middle school, and was blown away with the lyrical content. I've been able to continue listening to the songs and find little new things still to this day. Just why I love Bo so much.

Nice! Bo’s had one HELL of an artistic arch. Blew up way back in the mid 2000’s when KZbin was still in its infancy and became one of the first people to turn “going viral” into an actual career. Youngest comedian to ever sign a record deal with Comedy Central, youngest comedian to get a full length special, so on and so forth. His early stuff is a bit hit or miss…a lot of it didn’t age very well but he was also a literal teenager when he wrote it so that tracks. Recommendations in no particular order: -Art is Dead -How the World Works -Repeat Stuff (music video version) -From Gods Perspective -Comedy -Country Song -Left Brain, Right Brain -Lower Your Expectations And a whole slew of others. A lot of folks are going to recommend “Kanye Rant” and “All Eyes on Me” but I gotta ask that if you DO decide to check out more of his work, hold off on those 2. They’re far and away some of his best work, but you’ve gotta get your feet wet first. There’s a lot of very meta context within them and without that context, they just don’t land how they should. Excited for more Bo!!! Cheers

Bo's last live performance was his Kanye West rant, he had a panic attack live on stage, during that performance. He then became secluded and staid "Inside". He worked on his mental health and was ready to perform again but then 'covid' occurred. He was forced at that point to "stay inside". Every Bo song IMO is worth listening to, and I for one am here for it.. Go Bo.

The best wat I've ever heard Bo Burnham described: He's a MASTER of getting you to laugh at someone or something, and then making you feel uncomfortable for doing so. "Lower your Expectations", "White Woman's Instagram", "All Eyes on Me", "How the World Works", and "Art is dead" are some of my all-time favorites from him and definitely worth taking a look at. Honestly all of Inside is absolute gold, and the actual film on Netflix adds a lot to the songs and really puts his creativity on display. His older stuff is really hit-and-miss: he did a lot of edgy 2010s shock humor that is pretty cringey in retrospect, but there's some stuff in there that's just fun and goofy, and some that still has that same poignant introspection blended with his sense of humor.

He made this during the COVID lockdown and it was like watching a lonely man go mad while not being able to look away from his entertaining and insightful comedy. I believe you must have previously reacted to Bo's parody of a "Kanye rant," which was recorded pre-pandemic. His album Inside, which Welcome To The Internet is a part of, was recorded during the pandemic completely by him "inside" his room on his own since he couldn't go to a recording studio or have outside help. Truly brilliant and creative, which pretty much sums up everything I've seen from him. It was through watching his KZbin material that I discovered Tim Minchin through other commenters recommending Tim. I later found out that Bo credits Tim as one of his inspirations for getting in to musical comedy, and Tim has praised Bo as well for his creative genius. The reason I like both Bo and Tim is they can go deep, be funny or do both at the same time.

The thing about his special "Inside" is the fact he did everything himself in his own home. Due to mental health issues he had quit performing for a while. The problem was right when he was ready to make his comeback, COVID hit. So he made inside from the confines of his own home he performed, filmed edited, directed, all the way down to the lighting himself.

I would honestly recommend the Netflix special this song came from. It is hands down one of the most interesting pieces of cinema and absolutely worth the watch, on camera for a reaction or just in private. I would be really surprised if you didn't walking away really enjoying it and also questioning everything you know in the world lol Its a comedy special but it's very different. It was during covid and so he essentially locked himself into his inlaw suite for a little over a year during the days and just recorded. It's funny but it talks about a lot of very REAL topics all while you essentially watch this man spiral into depression from it all and COVID and its terrifying, sad, beautiful, funny... Seriously a masterpiece and I don't say that lightly.

this is from "inside". the show before it was called "outside". outside ends with him walking out the door. inside starts with him walking in the door from outside. he was having major anxiety issues and stopped doing live. i think they one you describe as having watched was "Cant handle this", (which i didnt care for) but was about performance anxiety and expectations and not feeling he lives up to them; he basically tells the crowd he feels like a fake and they cheer him for it. surreal. "Im bo yo", "repeat suff" (live first, then music video), "oh bo" music video, "words, words, words", "art is dead" are some of the ones I would recomend. you can see his evolution from younger silly to older serious. bo has inspiration from Tim Minchen, but Bo evolved more toward societal commentary, while starting with teenager shock toilet humor, while Tim tends more toward religion and just kind of random observations

A couple of days late, but still.. One thing I am picking up on is this - During the slower melodic bridge he talks about the year 1999, a 2yr old kid using Mommy's iPad and getting used to technology. The he switches to "now look at you - unstoppable, watchable.. you time is now, your inside's out..." To me, he's referring to all the "influencers" in their mid-20's. And their "inside's out", not in a gross gory way, but - they share their private life, private thoughts with the world, all the things we normally keep personal (inside) are on public display (out).. and this blurring of private vs public is kind of scary. And, at least to me, not a healthy thing.
