Agreed. Like you dont really miss anything by skipping Origins and technically it's not even the same universe. It doesnt do anything particularly groundbreaking but it's a fun game and the story is on par with the rest of the Arkham games.

This game is heavily inspired by the amazing Batman Animated Series having many of the same voice actors as well such as Kevin Conroy as Batman, and Mark Hamill as Joker to name a few. The artistic of Gotham is also inspired by the show has that Dark noire look with a mix of old and new tech as in the TV show Gotham had this weird hybrid of 1930s fashion, vehicles which looked pretty retro 1930s, old 1970s computers along side modern 1990s monitors, and this very art deco gothic 1930s look to Gotham City. The games on the otherhand throw some of the 1970s and 2010s designs and vehicles into the world such as having more modern monitors from the 2010s but also vehicles from the 1970s and 1980s along with old computers and etc. The city of Gotham in the background just beyond Arkham Asylum looks okay has a lot more of a modern typical city look but in Arkham City the Sequel to Asylum it blows Asylums Gotham out of the water. Looks perfect like they pulled the Animated series Gotham out of the show with those massive Gothic skyscrapers with yellow lights and Blimps flying over head just looks amazing. Arkham Knight is set in Gotham so i cannot wait for you to play that game the whole city is amazing and has elements from the Animated series with that dark gothic art deco 1930s look combined with the neon lights seen in the Joel Schumacher's Gotham and even some modern day elements from the Nolan movies which went for a more modern grounded take on Gotham City. In the game there's a new project to build these massive modern skyscrapers over the top of an old part of the city really standing out beside the older designs of the city. 29:41 She actually first appeared in September 11, 1992 where she debuted in the BTAS episode “Joker's Favor,” a character created for The Animated Series. The date you see in the game is when she was introduced into the Comic's. You can unlock more character bios when you discover riddles by scanning the environment. Many of these bios related to characters who aren't in the game but it's fun to discover greater Batman lore. Oh and yes the dialogue in these games are mental everyone seems to have like over 10 things each to say combined with the thug dialogue in Arkham City and Arkham Knight which are more open world these games just have so much going on. Arkham Asylum does have thug dialogue but it's nothing compared to flying around Arkham City or Gotham and listening to random people chatting with some really funny dialogue which even changes over the game when events happen people comment on them etc. Chronologically Timeline Arkham Origins Arkham Origins: Blackgate (Game on the PS Vita) Batman: Assault On Arkham (Animated film set in the Arkhamverse but not 100% sure if it's canon anymore) Arkham Asylum Arkham City Arkham VR (Prequal to Arkham Knight) Arkham Knight The Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League The new Suicide Squad game is confirmed to take place in the Arkhamverse from the trailer depicting the Gotham from Arkham Knight along with the Arkham Asylum design from the Arkham series. You can also see the same Metropolis posters from Arkham Knight in the Suicide Squad along with the Arkham Logo being the same as well so I'm glad there keeping the continuity between the two settings. Unlike the Batman games the Suicide Squad game will be set in Metropolis (Home of Superman) which has a more retro futurism 1950s artistic the city of the future in the eyes of the 1950s which fits with the overall Animated Series artistic the Arkhamverse has going. It's also just a fun artistic would rather explore this Metropolis than the boring movie versions.

This game was my childhood. Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamil are godlike as Batman and The Joker!!! Every time I read a comic book I hear their voices as the characters. Plus the Mark Hamil Joker laugh is the most iconic thing I have ever heard. This game is a 10/10 and Arkham City tops it too! Enjoy this game and the DC comics easter eggs throughout the map.

There are actually three games before Arkham Knight. Don't forget Arkham Origins. You can play Origins whenever you please tho. It's a prequel, so the story is not an overarching one like Asylum, City, and Knight. Although it's generally regarded to be best played after Arkham City but before Arkham Knight, as some subplots continue from Origins to Knight. Arkham Origins also has some of the best boss fights in the series, bar none.

here's a tip: don't invest too much time getting riddler trophies until you unlock the line launcher & upgraded grapple gun. I wasted time trying to go places I couldn't reach yet

Tbh for me combat is a lot easier on keyboard and mouse because instead of pressing multiple buttons for a takedown you can just press one, and you can really easily flick towards targets and time counters/crits easier. The Batmobile driving in knight on the other hand…

Fun fact: Arkham Asylum was the last time Arleen Sorkin would voice Harley Quinn. As the original voice actress she'd been doing Harley's voice for 17 years at that point, from 1992 to 2009. She would be replaced by Tara Strong from Arkham City onwards.

Please don't disregard Arkham Origins. People have a tendency to overlook it because it was made by a different company, but it's every bit as good as the others, and it's part of the canon. Recommended play order: Asylum > City > Origins > Knight. Also, I recommend playing with a controller if possible, but that comes down to preference I suppose.

Despite its shortcomings, this maintains a spot on my top 5 list. Kevin Conroy as Batman, Mark Hamill as Joker, Tara Strong as Harley. Tons of badass moments, lots of setpieces that still hold up to modern graphical scrutiny, as you pointed out in the intro. Hope you enjoyed!

If you’re playing all 4 games in the series I’d play them in this order: asylum, city, knight, then origins. I say origins last because city and knights story is directly related and you wanna be immersed in them. Origins is its own thing and kinda takes you out of the story

The Arkham games should be played either chronologically (Origins, Asylum, City, Knight) or in release order (Asylum, City, Origins, Knight). Knight spoils some plot-points from Origins, so yeah, Origins should be played before playing Knight.

I'd reccomend going Asylum-Knight-Origins-Knight, or the release order. You could totally slot Origins in after Asylum too. I find it a really essential part of the Batman story they tell in these games.

I recommend to play in order of release: Asylum, City, Origins and then Knight. Origins should be played third as it added gameplay elements on top of the City game and Knight added to the Origins gameplay
