Bass is a male only pitch, it's extremely deep. Tenor also is a male only term, it describes the highest pitch a man can naturally (generally) sing. Females are sopranos, mezzo sopranos, altos or contraltos. I think contralto and alto both overlap with male ranges tho and contralto is the deepest a woman's voice can naturally (generally) be. I can't pinpoint pitches but I would assume Sonata is an alto, which is lower then tenor, or mezzo soprano, which is a female who can do some soprano notes and some alto notes.

"Dang the Dazzlings/Sirens are so much better than the Rainbooms ://" ok yeah but that's the entire point. In terms of quality, the Sirens are superior by a landslide, and that's why this was so terrifying for the Rainbooms - but they had no choice but to try and win if it meant freeing their school from the Sirens' control. The Sirens basically sound professional thanks to their magic, while the Rainbooms are literally just a high school band with no real professional training. But of course, as is the moral of the story so many times in MLP, there is something the sirens lack that the Rainbooms don't - it's the magic of friendship. Even though these seven individuals have such different personalities and backgrounds, they were able to come together and make a song derived from having fun and their love for their friends, contrasting heavily with the Sirens' song meant to hypnotize for power. Perhaps in terms of quality, the Dazzlings/Sirens are better. But the Rainbooms don't care. They're not trying to be popular. They're just having fun and want to help their friends. Besides, isn't having fun the most important aspect of creative hobbies like songwriting/singing?

I'm currently writing a musical that i imagine to be for a teen or even adult audience, but it owes the flow/form of its big climactic number to this one. I'm sure "the good and bad guys trade off, the latter seeming to win before an impactful solo by a struggling/redeemed character changes the course of the battle" isn't UNIQUE to Rainbow Rocks, but this take on it was iconic enough that it's still what i think of.
