Speak it brother! Wow I was glad to see a new post from you, I clicked so fast I almost spilled my drink. Seriously Derek please and thankyou and do keep dropping your Knowlegeand experiences on us. I love your book and you need to know how much added joy hammocking has brought into our lives. :)

Good to see you again Derek! I still use the Becket hitch I learned from you.
@theultimatehang2 ай бұрын
Sweet! I'm so glad. It is my go-to hitch for hammocks.

A long time ago I got your smaller book ( for some reading ) and learned a few things from it. Several years ago I got the bigger book (I'm a gluten for punishment ) and learned even more. One would think in my 65 plus years of hammock camping I would of know those things but I didn't. It appears even an old dog can learn new tricks'. I like to recommend your books to anyone asking about Hammock camping since they are a great reference material. Now a video , I subscribed but will keep the books. lol.

Thanks man! The new third edition has a smaller form factor, so hopefully not as intimidating, but still has the quality content from the 2nd edition.

Love to see you talk about the advantages of side tie-outs, as well as how best to deploy them.
@theultimatehang2 ай бұрын
Are you referring specifically to side tie-outs on a hammock?
@joelhooper89162 ай бұрын
@@theultimatehang yes, the tie outs on the left and right head and foot sides.
@theultimatehang2 ай бұрын
@ for jungle hammocks, I like having pullouts on the head side to keep the netting off my face. I don’t use pull outs for open hammocks and I don’t find much use for pull outs on the foot side. If using a tarp I’ll just clip the hammock tie out to the tarp tie out.

As a scouter and hammock influencer, I hope you can help persuade Philmont Scout Ranch to abandon their prohibition of hammocks. Major bummer.

OH man, that would be a miracle, right? I think the challenge is infrastructure. With so many treks going through, it would wreak havoc on the trees. They would need to install permanent stands (a good idea, actually, in lots of ways). Sounds like a great Eagle project proposal? Have anyone on the path?
