To all those who were kind enough to think the film Renee put on her window would be "depriving" the dogs and they'd get bored, thank you for thinking about the dogs' welfare. As someone who works with animals (including dogs) that have behavioral issues, please be assured that this film doesn't "deprive" the dogs of anything (and often it's much better for the dog--if a dog is barking out of fear, then making the thing the dog is afraid "go away" of is a huge relief for the dog--not that Renee's dogs are barking out of fear, there's absolutely no sign that they are). As Renee said, there are other windows they can look out, they have plenty of toys to play with and things to chew on, they have plenty of comfy places to take a Judy and they have lots of interaction with Renee and they play with one another. If they were, by some chance to get bored, there's plenty you can do to offer them enrichment (like puzzle toys; but one must be super careful with puzzle toys in multiple dog households as there can be a "discussion" if one finishes the toy first and tries to get in on the fun of one of the other dog's toy). Frankly, Renee could have used training to solve this issue, however (and this is a big however), training can be time consuming (the barking didn't happen over night, it isn't going to go away over night; it's a habit and it's hard to break, just like habits are hard to break for us humans). It can be a hassle (you have to train every single time the dog sees something--no matter what you're "in the middle of"). Everyone in the family has to be on board and do the training (it's very confusing for a dog if they "get away with it" sometimes, but not other times--that can actually be stressful for a dog). As part of a behavior modification plan, I wouldn't have hesitated to suggest using the film. I want to commend you for thinking of the dogs' welfare, but they're fine!

@@redhatpat9387 Training often fails without help of someone who knows how to do a behavior modification plan. I'm not saying this to be conceited, but I studied long and hard to gain the knowledge to be able to provide people with help. I would wager training would have worked if Renee had had help from someone like me. You're basically saying I've wasted my time and my life. If that's your opinion, fine, but please keep that to yourself because I'm not interested.

Renee, i love "take a Judy". My name is Judy and unless I have an appt, I take a Judy every day. If I miss them too many days in a row, I get too exhausted to function well.
