Subbed. I just dove into welding. Doing a complete career pivot from cooking. I love it, but my first day was rough man. Its hard to get down on yourself when the rod keeps sticking or when you finally get it going but mess up your pool, etc. I find being comfortable is so important.

I'd really love to see a video where you use a very cheap welder (harbor freight, bestarc, primeweld etc.) Running off a cheap generator (6kw-10kw) like a generac, or porter cable, or Honda etc) with no grid power whatsoever. I live off grid in alaska and have had trouble with welding using my 10kw and 2kw generators, trouble with bogging, voltage, amperage, etc. I'm running a primeweld 120/220 multiprocess plasma tig stick machine, mostly using 6011, and 7018 rods, usually 1/8" or 3/32" as that's what's available. The generator will bog down as soon as I strike the arc, then rev up, causing the arc to change dramatically, leading to a very difficult welding experience, any advice or best case scenario, a full video on how to correct this would be very helpful. Thanks for reading and have a wonderful day

If i can get ahold of these things Ill make it happen. That is the type of power youll get off of those types of generators, its not as smooth as those welding generators, the 10kw should be able to handle that ok.. may not be the consistant arc you want however.

From one welder to another, good informational video and nice looking welds. One thing you should do differently is be facing your exhaust fan so it doesn’t have to pull the smoke around you. Great video 👍
@ericl296918 күн бұрын
Looks like that fan is blowing at him, so the breeze should be carrying the smoke away from him (toward the camera). In other words, it's not an exhaust fan, but just moving air across the shop, which works as long as there are open windows to keep some air-exchange with the outside world happening.

How about going through the videos and do some about the different types of welding, with references to the previous videos. Like, beginner stick, intermediate stick. The differences not just in the rods, but also the materials being welded. MiG and Tig also. Then there is the differences between machines. How to set the proper way even if it is analog and has no digital readout. I can think of hundreds of videos I would love to see, and several dozen of your videos that were very helpful. The videos you have done in NY, out west, down in Texas, and even the Roller Coaster repair were great because they showed real world applications. A combination of more of those videos added to some process videos with in depth video references to previous videos, would come in real handy. That’s just my opinion, and we all know what options are like.

Follow your weld procedure peramaders . the more heat , more distortion , pull , and cracking if not properly cooled down . stress is Number one enemy in heavy metal welding . Always get a weld procedure and follow it !!!!!! pre heat , post heat , out side temp , rate of travel,volts amps , type of filler metal and much more are all in your procedures . when your weld dosen't fail , and the weld inspector says , where's your procedure ? U say , right here , and inspection will say" don't get rid of this welder he or she is GOOD" !!! I welded from a broken heart to the the crack of dawn , around the corner and back .
