Auto-darkening helmets are nice until the battery dies. Here is how to replace them.

Thank you sir, I was about to junk my Yeswelder helmet. I did do my helmet as you showed but I did solder the wires and bought the 2AA battery holder with an off and on switch, worked like a charm…

After watching this, I'm headed to the workbench to have a word with about 6 welding helmets that all crapped out on me just as I have a railing that needs fixing. 😄

Thanks. Was Yeswelder thinking, "we need to make them throw it away so we can sell another”? 🤦♂️

A brilliant cure for a very annoying problem. Why is it that whenever I go to use my welding helmet (which isn't often) the battery is dead? Why is current being drawn when the helmet is just lying there? Should I be storing it in the black bag it came in, for some reason? It is very perplexing because these things have no on/off switch.

Won't the circuit be trying to recharge non-rechargeable batteries now?
@HowToLou Жыл бұрын
Good point. Yes, but the solar cell is no match for Duracells. It works fine. You can cut the wires to the solar cell if you want. I may do that, since you pointed this out. Thank you.

@@HowToLou No problem. It would probably been fine but you never know. Especially if the batteries get really run down.

I have been working on it. I got the Diesel engine running and am now building the dashboard for it, and building an exhaust system to go out through the wall. I used the welder helmet and welder to make legs for the engine. Video update soon.
