Hi John + James, trouble with the grab handler, if welding does a good enough temporary fix while your waiting for a new part, it not a bodge, it's only a bodge if it fails. gutted another hydraulic burst, now fixed good. As always a great video, catch you all on Sunday Take care BCB

I did see the video 15: 4 meant a loss in goals but what a gain in employer/employee relationships; it was a fun game and the drinks all round afterwards (whoever paid for them!) summed it all up. I hope John didn't suffer too much with his ankle injury -- it was a foul John, I spotted that and I know less about football than the man on the exercise bike! But what about yesterday's video? Pipes bursting all round and pivot pins giving up the ghost. Of course James handled the situation with the equanimity we have come to expect -- and a bloomin' great sledgehammer! ... But it worked and the new parts will be on their way by now and a permanent repair can be achieved. John's got too much sense to be seriously opposed to spending money where it's needed, I'm certain. I think the dilemma was for the camera. James is absolutely right, the more machines you have, the more there is to go wrong; however at BCB every mechanical crisis is always met head on and it has to be a serious decision whether a 'specialist repair' will counteract the downtime loss or a temporary 'bodge' will provide an appropriate breathing space. I remember ages ago the number of times James wrestled with the dreaded claw, long before the age of the Doosan and the CAT, he kept that machine going and earning its keep for ages he will still be at it when he's my age! Another good video with nice little dramatic touches -- like the dash to get the new pipe and the rapid ride back (nice touch) so thanks again and best wishes.

James why didn't you just get a piece of thick flat bar use burning gear to bend it into a hoop so it fits over the nut and weld it to the side face of the power hand and it will stop the pin from walking out then you wouldn't have had to kill all the pigeons to do what you did 😂

@charliewillis67120 күн бұрын
ill be honest you need a mechanic asap. Its things like the engine you fitted to the daf not getting a service ffs. Thats basic maintenance when swapping engines to give the replacement engine a birthday. even if thats just a full service which would have included a air dryer cartridge which would fix this whole air system freezing issue which 99 times isnt a issue then the 100th time it fu*ks a leveling valve then your screwed for more money than a simple service kit. not chaning the fuel filter on a engine that sat for 5 years is asking for low fuel pressure faults. If your having issues with hydraulic pipes over and over again with them going brittle change all the main boom ones, yes it may cost a few quid but thats better spent now than the machine breaking down again for the next 8 times as it slowly blows each pipe and every time you loosing a hour of time and possibly sending lorries away half full. You treat a machine with respect and care and it will show the same back, you ignore faults and abuse it cheaply and you will destroy any reliable machine
@BCB20 күн бұрын
It’s very true, we are in that weird position at the moment where it wouldn’t be full time and we are doing as much as we can, small things can lack from time, but we are giving everything regular services check overs and grease etc, the daf got a full oil change and filter but we will be sure to sort the fuel and dryer cartridge, we are outsourcing a lot of work insist admit so it may be time your right!
@charliewillis67119 күн бұрын
@@BCB yea that wasnt a dig at you by any means as your true you are in the middle of a massive change over period for the company between smaller scrappy and medium/large size. if i lived closer i would have come down on saturdays to help as im a trained mechanic myself. its small things like after that oil leak on the boom pipes and the day starts to end drive the machine to a pressure washer and give it a clean. stop the oil breaking down the rubber in any of the wiring looms. i know the world isnt perfect but as tesco once said every little helps

I'm sorry but jhon needs to listen too Chris cos he's right why would you even buy the pin (no9) and not all the correct parts to fix it correctly the first time and not have to do it again in 6 to 12 months or why would you risk buying a expensive pin then to try and put that bollocked nut on it risk it chewing up the new pins threads. Do it right the first time if your going to spend the money then if its greased when it's ment to be it will last 5 years or more

It is easy for me to comment, however what you are doing is not saving you money. Do what you are good at & get someone that knows what they are doing. By getting the right fixer (Yes it will cost you a few bob), but he will do a better job which will last longer & will also see what is coming that is on the verge. If you phone Welderfaber, explain that if he can't come tomorrow ask who he can recommend because it needs doing asap, they will sort you out - its worth a try.

Unfortunately the full pin is a specialised part to the attachment and only the original manufacturing company was able to fix, the pin had to be sent up for refurbishment and in there schedule could only be done in a certain date, and had to be done within a day to meet our requirements, luckily this was already organised a month beforehand and being so close to the day a bodge was in order :-), wasn’t a cheap fix but is now perfect, make sure to watch the video out soon :-)
