Yeah I've been looking into it and I think this is actually a 1 1/2 ton. They used to completely different fenders than the half ton trucks, so we're going to have to make something work, haha
@todddenio3200Күн бұрын
@@HalfassKustomsI am thinking you might want to shrink the size of the wheel arches so it is in better proportion or go with larger wheels and tires on it, but that's just my opinion.
@alanwalker169822 сағат бұрын
Yep, ton and 1/2. Bigger wheels or smaller fender openings or different fenders. Lengthen the box or change where the fenders on the box.

The S10 117"'s for the frame is probably better than 108";s on a short box frame. I totally agree cutting it to fit might be better. I am digging the Studecamino and the International truck builds the most. Thanks for your cool content!

These internationals were made from 1937-40. The late 1939 and 1940 had seal beam 6 volt lights with wide chrome ring, before that they had the bulb setup. These trucks had a nose emblem and the grill and hood had nickel pieces on them. All in all very nice looking trucks. The model and size tag is located on the cowl on the left side under the left butterfly hood . There is an outfit in southern Alberta near Lethbridge that you can get parts for this truck, fender seals, window and windshield rubbers, floor rubbers, light mount rubbers , cowl vent seals, rear window rubber, all new replacement parts etc etc, Parts are hard to locate for internationals. The original lights is what makes this truck stand out. I am from northern Alberta and have over a dozen of these trucks. The D-2 is 1/2 ton, the D15 is 3/4 or 1 ton, D-30 is 1-1/2 ton, going up to D-70. Great program, I always enjoyed working in the shop and fabricating. Have a great Christmas to you and your family. Marc

You have an international 1937 box. The original tailgates were double paneled like yours. The bottom of the box would have originally had a metal skirt about 8" high in the front and 6' high behind the wheels to hide the frame. I am restoring that box currently and made new skirts and reproduced the curved stake pockets for mine.

Brent, if l were doing that,which l am not! I would not shorten the chassis, instead I would lengthen the back of the cab! Since you are long legged like me... l think it would give you some much needed room inside the cab, and you will have done something not many have tried? You have the knowledge, l remember a lnternational truck you turned into a cool 4x4. Good luck 👍, good content as always, thanks jim
@angeladubuc911522 сағат бұрын
Cut the warped front of the bed off and make a truck/lock box section instead of cutting the frame! You can then put tools or grocery bags in there without needing to keep anything in the bed.

It looks like the fenders need to turn counterclockwise for the doors to open and so the running boards can attach to the fenders. Looking good, minty!

I had the same thought, the front fenders look like the they are for a 1 1/2 or 2 ton truck. I've seen other guys widen or narrow fenders to fit the stance. Maybe consider narrowing them 3" or so since your going to need to work them over away.

Stretching the cab 6 inches behind the door would let you lean the seats (or slide them back) back a bit more - that's kind of a trick that later model F-150's did for what they billed as "single-cab" but you can definitely see they added a bit there. It's a lot more work, but I guess it really depends on how your driving position ends up as opposed to shortening the frame, or lengthening the box a little.
@tjeffjenkins622623 сағат бұрын
With the visual weight of the front fenders, I think you should extend the box to the cab to have a balancing weight visually for the truck.

I think what you might have is a 1/2 ton cab and hood with larger truck fenders. The hood length looks to be about 6" longer on the 1.5 - 2 ton internationals thus making more room for the fenders.

I agree with DIGGER927. I think it needs a bigger/wider chassis and wheel width. Brent, don't you have a running GMC/Chevy Van there?? I would think that would make for a better stance and look. Also, I'd kinda like to see you build another bed just for that truck. I built one, pretty custom, for a work truck, long, long ago. The top rails were 4" (C) channel. That worked out great for steak pockets and headache rack and a combo Gas/Diesel tank for filling up other equipment on the job sites. We built another similar to that with pipe/ ladder racks. Both took a lot of abuse and stayed in really great shape for as long as I worked there.. Just my .02 ....

stand beside the back of the passenger side of this truck and look toward the front looking at that body line in the top part of the door going forward to the nose, it looks like to me that the nose can go down about 2 inches, that will give more room to open the doors more and not hitting the fenders too early

Instead of shortening the frame of truck (which would be an excessive amount of work), extend the box. Wouldn't it be easier? Then all you need to do is have a four to five inch extension on the front or back. Probably the back toward the cab would be the easiest.
