Thank you. I've been struggling to find a good brief tutorial on the basics of soldering. I was able to solder my LCD and it worked great. The tips about how much solder to put, what you do if you put too much, how to touch it up, which way to move the tip when done... Really helpful. Thank you, again. Thumbs up for sure. =)

Could you please tell me more about what problem did you have?
@ArcanePath3608 жыл бұрын
Intermittent display. Sometimes no LCD, sometimes no backlight. I thought LCD was bad to I replaced it but I suspect either the wires are bad or my soldering isn't up to scratch. Thanks
@sunfoundermakereducation85908 жыл бұрын
ArcanePath360 When you are soldering the pins, please ensure the pins and the pad on LCD have been wrapped by the melt tin as quickly as possible. Please note that the two pins can not be soldered together directly. You can try to add some melt tin.
@ArcanePath3608 жыл бұрын
Melt tin - you mean solder? I did do it quickly but maybe too quickly. I'm guessing I have 1 or 2 cold joints. I also didn't use header pins but directly soldered the wires to the pad. I would throw it out and get a serial one, but I'm already using the SDA ad SCL pins

In this case, the wiring connectivity maybe not so stable. we recommend that you to solder the pin and have another try.

I can't find anywhere a display with the same exact information and I don't know enough about displaysto know if a 1601 is the same as a 1601A as well as the VER 2.0 and if that is critical. The display is for a frequency countercalled a DD-103Thanks, Ken

Look at the percentage of “flux”. Flux let’s it melt. I would buy wire with 2 percent flux it. Also try to buy “clean” wire, eg without lead. Lead is very, very unhealthy. Cost a bit more but is worth it. Best regards, Leo The Netherlands.

hi my display is working fine at first, my supply is a connected to a resistor to change it to 5V(i have also used 7805 voltage regulator IC and 5V zener diodes), but then when the supply (12V battery) is being charged by a DC generator we noticed that the regulating voltages we use is not working anymore which in turn makes the LCD display random characters. Please help! Thanks
@sunfoundermakereducation85907 жыл бұрын
Dear Norberto, The voltage problem will cause that the LCD dispaly is not clear, flashing or burn it. Not the random characters, random characters are generally due to the data is not correct, or LCD is not initialized or unstable wiring. Pls check the situations we have mentioned. If you still can't find it, pls connect with us and provide more details about the problem.
@aeshi0017 жыл бұрын
The display is alternating between random ASCII characters and the proper display. But when the generator is not charging the battery the display is at a stable proper display

could the difference in voltage between the datapins and the source pin be a factor in this error? thanks for the reply i really appreciate it
@sunfoundermakereducation85907 жыл бұрын
Dear Norberto, It should be the DC generator problem. If you have oscilloscope, you can check the output of 7805, after connected the generator. In additional to, could you pls provide some picture or circuit diagram about the cables connection? We still can't understand your problem totally. Looking forward your reply!

Why are you holding heater on the pins so long time ?
@TheMasterOfNone6 жыл бұрын
So they get warm enough to actually accept the solder.. If you just drop hot solder on a cold pin you'll get a cold connection which doesn't work or works very unreliably.
