Don't think you could've asked a better company to demonstrate titanium welds... all of Unobtanium's work is unreal.

Nice tips, tried titanium a couple of days ago was actually quite surprised how well it turned out kept the bead silver but a bit color around the bead. Now i was wondering can you clean titanium with those cleaners that are used to clean/remove oxide from stainless steel?

What is the correct tungsten to use for Titanium I got the gold color can't remember off the top of my head what it's called.
@TheOneAndOnlySame Жыл бұрын
Gold is 1.5% lanthanated. EWL1.5 You can use the 2% lanthanated too, the blue one, EWL2. Some brands have proprietary mixes too that work very well ( Rare earth mixes : E3 purple 🟣 , other stuff like Pink , all starting with designation EWG (electrode wolfram general, Wolfram being the name tungsten has on the periodic table of elements "W", General here means that it's not one of the standardized mix , it can be anything the manufacturer's wishes to be. If you go to CK Worldwide's lineup they have a proprietary mix called LaYZr ( Lanthane Yttrium Zirconium ) and it's designated EWG LaYZr. It's fine for titanium , Al and stainless too .

I’m super confused on, for starters why she’s saying that only 7 seconds of post flow is good for titanium when that’s insane lol but mainly what I’m confused about is how directly after talking about leaving your filler rod in the post flow and making sure you let the post flow run to prevent the titanium from having a chance to react with the oxygen in the atmosphere she immediately pulls the gas coverage away from the pipe she’s welding, even though the pipe is very clearly still well above the temperature range at which it would start reacting with oxygen bc you can still see that the pipe is very clearly glowing vibrant red while she is standing next to it talking and holding the torch and filler rod in her hands nowhere near the pipe and if the pipe is glowing red then it is at a temperature of at least 1200°F if not higher i would assume and I’m pretty sure titanium is said to start having reaction with oxygen at anything around somewhere in the 5-800° range or so if I remember correctly…. So with that being said why on heavens earth would she leave a glowing red piece of titanium not covered by argon? And if you’re wondering about when exactly I’m referring to, it is at the 4:16 mark to be exact and if you look in the background at the pipe she was just welding, It is still very much so glowing red….
