The way Big Bud designed and built those tractors, its almost like they left room to add on nearly anything people came up with to their machines long after they were built. You now have a tractor with the technology of a new machine with the reliability of the old machine because it doesn't have DEF or complex multi clutch or CVT transmission. Since it is running the same transmission as a heavy duty truck if for some reason Montana mandated emissions on tractors you can just bolt in an emission compliant engine. With proper maintenance there really is no reason this Big Bud won't be planting crops 50+ years from now.
@WelkerFarms4 жыл бұрын
We hope to do exactly that, keep them running for many years to come. This particular BUD uses a twin disc power shift and that could create issues down the road in regards to parts but for now twin disc still provides support for them.

That Montana has no legal right to "mandate emissions on tractors" isn't in the authority nor power of Montana. What really happens is that Montana chooses to NOT enforce the federal laws. They just look the other way at this time. It's a money-thing. The Feds spend a lot of money in matching funds for highway and bridges and infrastructure - that if they withheld it for the fact that Montana doesn't enforce their air quality laws, then those funds will dry up. At that point, Montana will definitely start inspecting and enforcing EPA rules.

Wow! That is a big upgrade. I noticed a couple of things. You guys probably accounted for all of this but I thought I would mention it. 1) At about 16:50 in the video the CASE IH guy mentions 5000 psi. The manifold below the steering sector looks to be anodized aluminum which is typically only rated for 3000 psi. For pressures over 3K manifolds should be made of ductile iron. Hopefully the pump is not set to 5000 psi. 2) Most load sense pumps need to have a case drain line. Usually there is two ports. Make sure you are hooked to the upper most port. That line should be plumbed as close to the reservoir return port as possible to keep the back pressure to a minimum. If the back pressure on the case drain is too high it can wreck the pump. 3) At 9:18 Leg Arms is talking about the hydraulic system. Looking at the hydraulic line to the left of the steering sector, based on the looks of the green lay line on the hose, thee hose appears to have a twist in it, which probably occurred when it was tightened. If it is twisted it would be good to take the twist out. The line will last longer.

As a New Holland Precision Farming Specialist I found this pretty cool. I would advise that you go and record all your field boundaries so that you can see area remaining when in operation. It also helps when you are questioning how much fuel, seed or fert is needed to finish the paddock. Plus once you record all your boundaries, import them into the Pro700’s in your combines then yield/ha and area remaining will again advise fuel requirements or how many trucks you need to wrap up harvest in the field. Enjoy the new setup.

As others have said, bringing old iron up to modern levels is fantastic. A lot of people won't understand just how much difference this can make. It might not seem like that big of a deal if an expensive upgrade will only get you a few extra bushels of crop per acre. But when you're farming 100's or 1000's of acres, those extra bushels pay off. This was great video. It's really nice to see how you guys are not only embracing the technology, but are flexible enough (and knowledgeable enough) to pull parts from different machines to integrate into the new stuff. Well done.

In a way kind of. We sell the larger stones to landscapers. The GPS ensures a more thorough sweep of the fields. It's very hard to get all of the stones. But what is really difficult is driving straight and being fast at it. One baseball sized stone can do 20 thousand in damages to a combine. The disk blades and planter openers we save is excellent. We do custom farming as well and I'm currently working on a neighbors fields in exchange for some leftover spring wheat seed.

Case IH already has an autonomous prototype and I believe some of the other manufacturers do as well. From what it sounds like, the AFS Connect Magnum and Steiger tractors are pretty close to it already.

I understand load sensing, but what is pressure compensating?
@RJ1999x4 жыл бұрын
@@jessehall8168 it gives you the exact amount of oil needed to do the job, it compensated for the flow and the load, so the tractor wasn't wasting horse power and fuel giving you 15 gallons of oil at 2500 psi when 2 gallons at 500 psi was all that was needed
@iantowers69724 жыл бұрын
Jesse Hall pressure compensating is a system that as soon as you start the tractor it just boosts up to whatever pressure the pumps set at and stays at that pressure which wastes hp etc when it's pumping at full pressure when not needed!!
@jessehall81684 жыл бұрын
@@RJ1999x so it maintains constant pressure (I think). Is it done by a T in the line feeding back to control the swashplate in a variable displacement pump? Or a sensor feeding data back to a computer controlling the pump?
