They say bad luck comes in threes. I went to fill some water buckets the other day and the well didn't work. The well was drilled only two years ago and the submersible pump has run no more than a couple hours since it was installed, so what the heck could it be?

my husband had to replace our well pump-192 ft down on steel pipes. Ended up having to do it himself because it's our only water and I'm disabled and we don't have the money tbh. Thank goodness his nephew by marriage came out a few weekends in a row to help and let us fill water buckets so we could flush the toilet and wash hands. Also let hubby take showers at their home. Took at least a month and a half- well companies were a month behind and wanting in excess of 5k but we managed. Grateful that through his hvac license a professional supply company sold to us at professional prices and with professional stuff. We replaced with pvc pipe since the failure was due to pump overworking due to a leak in steel pipe at best guess. Wells are great but simultaneously a nightmare and worry.

I do believe that the original well company that sold you the pump were aware of the cheap check valves, and this was their way of drumming up 'future business'... But that is only my opinion! You both are so close to the finish line!:) Semper Fidelis
@jinto_reedwine
@jinto_reedwine 3 жыл бұрын
It's certainly possible, but to be fair, those are top of the line submersible pumps with a price tag to match. I personally don't think it would be unreasonable to assume they included a quality check valve as part of the pump. If you research check valve installation best practice and well pump installs I think you would also be surprised to find how much disagreement there is even amongst pros about "the best way." Either way, glad to see these guys did the right thing!

great video . you got the "right " well people to help fix your water challenge ! great quality work and knowledge. Every home I built when I had my business , we always installed the way your boone company did. separate check valves. I moved in with my sister last year . Her well pump died after 28 years total . When they raised the broken pump , it had a check valve installed above the pump. when checking the records , the added check valve gave my sister 10 more years of life out of her old pump. Sad that the design is cheap as a Childs toy for such an important part of the whole pumping system. I hope you add a nice ( with a bypass valve , often built into ) a clear in line filter post pressure tanks filter . It will save your appliances and faucets from the grit. My self the 60 psi will shorten the gasket and faucet part life ( my first hand experience , because of the pressure. I would drop it to 35 psi and you will enjoy less plumbing maintenance going forward. easy to adjust , up or down . Think about it , that is why all city homes have pressure reducing values right off the city meters. to protect the inside plumbing systems and parts. Great update and quality fix for your home. This is an example of why us old folks hold back from making suggestions to your building process. If we share advice , we sound like know it all's. If we stay quiet , we sadly see what happens to you by contractors or by murphy. I know the home build has been a trying experience for your family. Your progress has been a joy to educate your followers. Looks like the build is getting closer and closer. Hope your family is healthy and going great. Crazy year for the gardening folks. Thanks for all your efforts and sharing . :)

I've pulled both my pumps myself in the 20 years I've lived here and reinstalled the new ones. Worked for a local well driller for a year and a half... Became their 'pump specialist's, mainly because I knew how to read and understood what I was reading.🙄 Built my own tripod out of used pipe. Used a pully and come-along to lift the deep one (500 ft).

Im here in South Carolina and put in a pump around 365 deep, I was looking a grundfos with the soft start and dry run protection but the pump dealer said that with those features they have experienced a failure rate with them....I ended up going with a 1hp Pearl...around 625.00 it has a 3 year warranty... ended up making a set of rollers from wheel barrow rims to attach to the casing and ran it down with 200 psi poly pipe...using that green mil-spec tape you had on yours...so far so good...I have a little bit more warranty left...keeping my finger crossed. One other thing, if you are running a generator and its a square wave type, they are hell on electronics...a pure sine wave would problaby be better but expensive!

Wow lots you guys have had lots of well pump problems. Glad you were able to find a better pump installer. Interesting Pitless adapters not being code in your area, they are a requirement up here in the rust belt. Knock on wood our pump is 40+ years old and other then a couple of control boxes (lightning strike and bad cap) working fine. Something to think about is adding a whole house sediment filter when you complete the house. We have sand in our water so I installed a 20" Big Blue filter with a DGD-5005-20 filter element. Works great and no more sand clogging fixtures or building up in the toilet tanks. That is the only problem with our water so no other treatment is required.

What comes around goes around....trust me the second company knows exactly who the dritbags are that work on the first install. Hats off for them to fix someone else problem,the original company must not like to be in business.

I always wondered why you did the well house. Our well only produces 3 GPM. that's not uncommon here in the mountains. Not far, less than 10 miles, from here, people have to truck water.
