It is better than castration day although castration day is one way to get even for all the pig wrangling.

Heck yea, 5 joules ought to help keep that guy in his place, and glad they sent you a new one so quick! I love my 8’ copper ground rods, but with how dry it is you might consider also running a “ground” line that runs parallel to the hot line to ensure he has a fast track ground connection to the rods when he touches both.

I e thought about running two separate lines. Right now we are I. A saving mode to get rolls of fence, posts gates etc. once we have all of the supplies I will set up permanent systems that should be trouble free. This is my third setup and the process has really helped me figure out how I want it permanently.

@@Rockin8Farm yea, while I hated the inconveniences of when we only ran electric fence I did love that it allowed us to get a feel for layout before we spent the money on permanent fencing. Check out the NRCS silvopasture grants, it covered half our woven wire costs. Absolute life saver and really wasn’t that much hassle(well no where near the hassle we already take to raise the thousands farming it saved us 😂).

Mahalo for the info. Exactly what I needed to hear. Definitely something I have to prepare for in the future. My IPPs are 5 months and I got a huge Kunekune boar that I'm going to have to contain lol. When my IPPs hit 8 months.

You’re IPPs are not ready to breed at 5 months but they can be bred now so get them protected now so you don’t have an early accidental pregnancy.

Oh boy thank you for the heads up! I have my Kunekune boar in a fence paddock. I probably would have to electric fence the inside for more protection.

How many IPP’s do you have now?
@Rockin8Farm2 жыл бұрын
We currently have 9 in our breeding herd, 7 grow outs, 20 piglets on the farm. Hopefully most of the piglets will be going to new homes soon.

The fence is not doing as good of job because of how dry it is

You’re telling me brother. Even if I keep the ground rods wet the soil everywhere else is so dry that the foot to ground contact is weak too. We NEED rain!!!!!!!
