Senator Antonio Marte complained on Thursday about the publication of the fortunes of officials, arguing that they should not be made public, due to "the levels of insecurity that the Dominican Republic is experiencing."
During a turn in the session, Marte said that this could cause his relatives, or themselves, to be victims of kidnapping.
"With this need
He then asked: "Who is going to compensate for the damage that they may cause (to them)?"
"I would like, damn it - excuse the word - to resign from this damn thing. I didn't know that a senator here is not worth a guava," said the transportation businessman with his peculiar way of speaking. Marte entered politics several years ago.
