Each living being has unique characteristics, strengths and proclivities. It is this difference or diversity that makes humans so interesting and beautiful. Yet, in yoga and Buddhist literature alike, we find the sentiment that the essence of true wisdom lies in what is called pure awareness or clear light awareness. So, which is more true? The reality that identifies things and acknowledges difference? Or the reality of pure awareness or oneness? What if both were true and could be integrated?
A model that shows up in yoga and Buddhism provides a helpful way to make sense of our perception of reality - the koshas, the layers of the subtle body. Through practice, discourse, sharing and music, we use this model to explore the relationship of difference and oneness.
