I think you are spot on with what you are saying about the clones (I have a 372, 543, and another zenoah type). The good thing is that they are cheap. The bad thing is that construction is not close to oem quality. But, if you can't find a decent price on a used oem saw, don't use the saws everyday professionally, and don't mind messing with them, and don't have a ton of money, they will put wood on your truck. My real orig. edition (actually stock jonsred 2071) runs great, and my ported clone 372xp (non-xtorq) wasn't quite as strong - but it does cut wood pretty good, especially now that I mildly ported, gasket delete and muffler modded it, timing advance, and put a new carb on it, fixed the air leaks, etc. But, if time is money, I put a bit of time sorting that saw out. At least my coil hasn't fried yet - but I don't have a lot of time on that saw either - so I'm sure that is coming.

Charlie, I have to be very careful what I say..... I just turned 70yrs. and never really got into chainsaws until a little over a year ago. Seriously, I have had 2 Electric chainsaws for about 30yrs, for cutting up small limbs and wild saplings sprouting up around the yard. I have run Gas saws, Borrowed and have been a Technician/Mechanic most of my life, so I'm completely comfortable tinkering and learning. *Suffice it to say, I am NOT a professional user and don't make my living from Cutting wood or repairing Saws. However, I am a homeowner that now depends on Firewood for heat and has seen the increase in cost. I'm limited on income, social security, and cannot throw big money at seldom used products(of any kind) so I shop, learn, invest and deal with whatever issues arise. i.e. - I have learned the ins and outs of just about everything I have to deal with in life. Okay - That said, Most of the Community have been blessings to people like myself. You guys Share with the rest of us and elevate our knowledge to levels of confidence we never expected to reach. I sincerely thank every one of you that does that. **** Now, KZbin recommended a channel to me about a month back.**** You can guess who, just by this Video, and I can only agree 100% with your frustrations. After watching the first short, my only comment was - Moving on - (To simple words). I received his reply attacking me as a cultist and a few other choice remarks. The person seems to be mentally unstable. We have since commented back and forth on a few of his videos, some positive and others legitimately offering advice to him with what seemed to be positive responses from him. ******************** What I learned************* I have been a KZbin member(not a creator) since 2007. I have received (4) warnings and (1) 24hr. Lock out from posting....with KZbin's ambiguous community harm warning, not having a clue what they were referring to. All (5) actions have been in the past few weeks with (4) Comment Removals. After the last one came when I had only posted 2 comments on Videos all day, both Chainsaw related, I had reference to to back and find who reported me. After locating the video with the removed post, I reviewed others on the channel where I had corrected him. 3 more were gone. Yep, and Azzhat with a God complex... My thanks to you and the others in the community that share and teach those of us willing to learn. You are all treasured for your efforts and kindness.

Charlie I bought one of the blue 372 clones and built it with a lot of eom parts , I basically used the blue one for the cases and wrapped it around OEM Husqvarna parts and it held up pretty good, but your absolutely right those saws won't last a month in a logging camp !!

Had one of those carbon fiber look 660 holtzforma clones, saw was crap.. oiler broke and the sizing was wrong so the OEM one wouldn't fit, carb was junk and saw cut with less power than a stock 572.. the chinaesium blocks and cylinders are suspect at best. After my experience with that saw I'll never buy a clone again.

Internet KZbin bullies are a joke. Ignore them...they aren't worth the time unless it turns out to be a misunderstanding. Be the bigger man, as my pops used to say. I have a G660 and 372 clone saws. Both needed carb tunes right out of the box. Other than that, they have run flawlesly...so far. Long term durability is an unknown. Do they run equal to my Stihl and Husky saws of the same displacement? NO! I didn't really expect them to be equal, so I wasn't really disappointed. I think with these clone saws, its a roll of the dice on what you get for quality and performance right out of the box.

The value of a tool is in the work it can do, and you're right to be happy if yours has cut that much wood, but realistically most clone saws are more likely to stop oiling on the first day than they are to cut 20 cords a season.

I have a good collection of both Stihl and Husky. this thing runs strong, it needed a little carb adjusment and ever since then..no trouble. At the end of the day, they are cheap Chinese rubbish if you enter into buying one, knowing that with your eyes, open fair enough, but I can’t stand these people who try blagging they are nearly as good as OEM. Interestingly enough, the people who kick off and start mud slinging are those with a vested interest in them. I had a similar experience when I said that the Bill quality was questionable and I wouldn’t recommend one for commercial use in a Facebook group. And I had a US dealer in them. Try getting me removed from various groups and blackening my name. Which seems an extraordinary amount of hassle to go to to inconvenience a guy, the other side of the world in the UK, who just answered a question and gave some impartial advice.
