Agreed MZ! For me, the Bell 47 is the most enjoyable helicopter currently available for MSFS. The little chopper is great fun to fly, as well as making for a nice challenge and the soundset is incredibly immersive. Apparently FlyInside are going to be updating the aircraft again soon, so I’m very much looking forward to that! Cheers, all the best : )

Really like this "coastguarding", impressive to see such details. One of the first things i tried out in the sim were the norwegian fjords, in early days quite a mess with missing height profiles and water fighting physics. Thanks for motivating me to revisiting these coasts. Spain´s east coast, e.g. around Alicante with its coast/heights right next to the city are impressive as well. ¡Braw! 😄💙

I’m glad you’re having fun with the little Bell, Obi! I’d be fascinated to know how FlyInside got the addon working on the console, given that it uses an external flight model (perhaps, the MSFS rotary physics have improved to a point where FlyInside can now make use of the default flight modelling). Happy flying and all the best! : )

Thanks for the tip.. Relaxing to watch. Remember an old Bell M.A-S. H type, (light bulb or the grid) - did some did some test low level flight and hover behind our hangar - (out of view from the Tower). A lot of smoke and rough running contraption. Remember the battery got 2 position for C/G - 1 or 2 pilots in the bulb.

Good evening sir! Another great video! 😊 I rode in a Bell 47 with my dad as a tenth bday present and I was drawing B47s on my schoolwork for years after I I bought the Bell 47 for MSFS and it is an absolute handful to fly and has virtually killed me numerous times especially when I exceed 90mph and I get a death spiral I have spent some time taking the bird and learning it really likes to be in the green zone for rpms and I fly no governor with the throttle which makes it very challenging I agree that this is an excellent payware product for the sim and the sounds are pretty top notch and immersive Keep up the excellent work sir. Hello again Andy, I hope you’re well! That’s a pretty awesome birthday present haha. I’m sure I’d have been exactly the same (in fact I was; after my first flight, I was drawing aeroplanes endlessly thereafter haha). For a long old while, I had virtually zero interest in helicopters, but something piqued my interest along the way and the Bell 47 was one of the first helicopters that really captured my imagination (I’m not 100% sure why). FlyInside have done a lovely job with their rendition of the aircraft, the sounds in particular are great and if you weren’t aware already, the product will apparently be getting a significant update soon also : ) The Comanche wouldn’t have been my first choice from A2A, but beggars can’t be choosers haha and if it’s from A2A, I’ll be snapping it up in a heartbeat! Cheers once again!

This is a crazy coincidence because I spent a couple of hours earlier flying in the Flyinside Bell 47 all around outer Skerries. The Flyinside Bell 47 has got to be the best modelled, most accurate helicopter available today for MSFS2020. If you turn the weather to Storm, it makes for a fantastic immersive experience. The Bell 47 flying around Outer Skerries is probably the best flying combination in MSFS2020. Great video. 👌👍

Most of my complaints about this heli are that the model looks ancient - it flies pretty ok, I wish the Mini500 was like it. Unfortunately it's a Bell 47, which aside from recreating M.A.S.H I have basically no interest in :) The area is somewhere I fly all the time, for obvious reasons :) There's a really nice amount of freeware all the way from Wick upwards. I can well recommend Devon & Cornwall and the islands ( Lundy & the Scilly Isles ) too - although you'll need a vast amount of freeware to make the most of it. Fortunately there is a very enthusiastic local down here making a lot of the local airfields - there was a really nice Lundy but I think it got removed from download. I don't recommend any of the Aerosoft products in the area at all, the freeware ones are better ( well maybe Perranporth ).

Ahh, what's wrong with the poor old Bell 47 haha? I agree regarding the addon; I've always enjoyed flying it, but even on release it looked graphically dated. I was quite surprised to see that no modders really addressed that (if not FlyInside themselves), but maybe there just isn't enough interest in the chopper for such a project. Apparently FlyInside are going to be updating the Bell 47 soon, so it will be interesting to see what that endeavour brings. For many years, I've really enjoyed flying from Wick up to the Orkney / Shetland islands. I have the Superspud scenery's for those areas, which I presume are the one's you're referring to? I should fly some more from the opposite end of the county (and I'm forever meaning to make a Lands End to John O'Groats trips also). Cheers for the info sir! All the best : )

@@IntotheBlueSimulations Only things really off about the B47 are the model, which looks like it was lifted from FS2004 or something, the fact there's still no lateral aero effects - so you can put as much torque in the tail rotor in a hover & it just rotates & doesn't translate, and likewise there's no dyssimmetry of lift, and general stability issues, it's like there's no giant spinning thing attached to the roof. I went through every heli I have for FS2020 & then tried the single one I have for XP12, and then the DCS ones... and really, the 2020 ones are all rubbish :( 2 mins into the SA315 in XP12 was so refreshing, and then ofc DCS. Superspud does produce exactly where I like flying, it's wonderful :) and he lives somewhere around me I think. Theres someone else (Scotflight?) doing a load of far north fields too.

Haha, I don’t know about the other stuff, but I would somewhat have to agree on the visual model. . . I used to own a lot of their stuff in P3D - really nice that they’ve been putting out some decent freeware for MSFS : ) Cheers!

@@IntotheBlueSimulations Sorry, mild humour, rather than any criticism! It just felt oddly wrong when one is more used to flying helicopters from the right seat! I think you are right, it looks like the Bell 47 is indeed mainly flown from the left seat, do not know why, but suspect it may be the way it's made and the primary controls were perhaps easier to manufacture on that side? As you probably know, flying helicopters from the right seat mainly affords the pilot a better view to the Starboard side nearest to him. Whereas If flying from the left seat, the arm operating the Collective can get in the way of the view out to the Port side, especially when looking out and down, such as when doing fast 180 stops (just easier to execute from the right seat, when it's usually preferred to bank to Starboard probably for that reason because you get the best view of the ground from that side), or when Winching or conducting Search & Rescue, when you do get a clear view out and down, whereas in the left seat, you do have to lean over more to see past one's own left shoulder and arm as it operates the Collective. The arm controlling the Cyclic is, by comparison, invariably tucked in and central to one's body, so is always out of the way when looking out to Starboard from the right seat. Technically, there is no difference in terms of mechanical control and I have flown from both seats but, in terms of view and lookout, the right Seat is the better of the two given the standard arrangement of Cyclic (central to pilot) and Collective (on pilot's left side). I appreciate that either seat will mean the side furthest away from the pilot will have a poor view out and down, so that affects either seat. The key point is of the two seats, the right seat has the edge in terms of view from the side closest to the pilot, simply because the arm operating the Collective doesn't get in the way. Anyone can try that sitting in a chair, hold right arm centrally and close to torso, as if holding the Cyclic, and then the left arm out to one's left as if operating the Collective. Now try and look down at the floor on either side. I think one will soon understand that you have to lean over far more to the left than the right, to get the same view of the floor, especially if the Collective is quite raised. That's why Helicopter Captains traditionally sit in the right seat, and that was certainly the HM Forces standard when I was trained many decades ago.

Haha, apologies Keith - that went completely over my head! I get so many people telling me how things “should” be done, that I didn’t even consider it might be a spot of humour XD I’ve no idea why the Bell 47 bucks the trend and indeed I had actually wondered why the right seat tends to be favoured on rotary aircraft - makes perfect sense now! Hi MK, The Bell 47 is a little bit different, as it uses an external flight model (so the typical sim bindings don't work), but the sim has bindings for helicopter lateral / longitudinal trim. @IntotheBlueSimulations
@IntotheBlueSimulations Жыл бұрын
Indeed MB, although I think the governor is a reasonable concession for the sim, since trying to operate the throttle and the collective simultaneously, would require one to have 3 hands when using your average sim controller setup XD I always thought that the Bell 47 looked like a fun machine to fly, perhaps not then haha. I had no idea the thing uses a wooden rotor, in fact I had no idea a wooden rotor was even feasible on a helicopter - interesting! @@IntotheBlueSimulations Lol, you need three hands and two brains with a manual throttle in the real thing! After decades of turbines I think I would really struggle going back to a manual throttle. It is one of those things that are best left in flight school. Yeah, wooden rotors were mainstream in early choppers. Definitely Bell and Hiller, not sure about Sikorsky. Most machines would have gone over to composites now. I know of one guy in the US who still refurbishes wooden blades. Early aircraft had timber props, I think it was just a continuation of the mindset at the time. Loving going through those playlists, took me a bit of time to work it out but I got there. Really enjoying the content. I am just starting to find out how Airbus works, I find their approach and the machines themselves intriguing. Looking forward to learning more.

Haha, I’ve always found it somewhat amusing, that (from what I have heard) some of the helicopters most commonly used in training, can also be some of the most demanding to fly. I guess that’s just a bit of an unavoidable catch-22 though, since you aren’t going to send a trainee off in a brand new H145 XD I’m very happy to hear that you have been enjoying the extra videos and indeed the content in general! I’m hoping to have a bit of time off in May, so I’ll try and top the library up a bit then ; ) I’d be the first to admit that an Airbus is not the most exciting aircraft ever created haha, but it is by and large a masterpiece of design. The commonality across the family is impressive and the systems / cockpit are well suited to modern commercial operations. It’s certainly an interesting aircraft to learn and the Fenix A320 is basically second-to-none in the sim. Another aircraft I would like to cover more of, if only I could find the time ha.
