This was very helpful. I signed up for the Procreate Playbook course (June - YAY!) and this video just affirms how much I'm going to learn and how much fun it's going to be.

I tried sublimation on the aluminum sheet and it worked great! Thanks for this cool project.

I'm so glad! Did you do a photo, sublimation design, or the Infusible Ink?
@barbaranewman29773 жыл бұрын
@@WellCraftedStudio I found a picture of a starry night and sublimated it on to the Cricut aluminum before using your engraving design. It looks really nice.

Great tutorial! Can this method be used with aluminum blanks that are not cricut brand?
@WellCraftedStudio3 жыл бұрын
Only if you use a sublimation coating. The Cricut aluminum already has this coating on one side of it, which is why we can do it. But someone just tried it on galvanized metal that she prepped with a sublimation coating and it worked great. Thanks for commenting!

I had no idea infusible ink could be used on aluminum! That is absolutely gorgeous!

Thanks for the tutorial. This is beautiful. I'm going to get some infusible ink and try it!!!

You definitely want to! It’s just gorgeous. ❤️ If you have questions I have a FB group for Engraving Metals with your Cricut that we’re doing a lot of these types of projects in. Or you can ask questions here too!

@@WellCraftedStudio Thank you I will definitely find the FB group. I purchased your book a bit ago and am just learning engraving. Your shop has saved me a whole bunch of time. Next I hope to learn to create my own designs

This so cool! Just wondering why did you choose draw and engrave if you are just engraving?
@WellCraftedStudio3 жыл бұрын
Hey Christine! I used draw for the template and then engrave for the engraving. Then after I stack them on the mat preview page I hide the draw image so I’m only engraving. You don’t have to use the template but it definitely makes it easier to align your designs on your aluminum blank.

I'm new to engraving, so this video really helped. However, I'm a bit confused as to why the engraved design needed to be dubed and one is engraving and the other one is for drawing when the drawing step is not used. Can you explain please?
@WellCraftedStudio2 жыл бұрын
Sure! The drawing is the template for alignment. When you engrave it’s sometimes hard to center your engraving design on your metal shape. You can guess, or you can go this route and use the template to position the engraving design. I changed it to draw and a red color so that I could easily see it underneath my engraving design.
@AliciaEastLyme2 жыл бұрын
Why is it harder to align the engraving layer alone. @@WellCraftedStudio
@WellCraftedStudio2 жыл бұрын
@@AliciaEastLyme it’s hard to know exactly where the middle is if you are trying to match it to a blank on a mat. And if you aren’t sure of the size of the blank or it’s position then it’s easy to get misalignment. This just takes some of the guesswork out of it giving you more consistent results.

Thank you so much for explaining! I watched your video at least 10 times in a row and could not figure out why we had a drawing template and an engraving template….then just deleted the drawing one. 😂 Thank you so much for explaining because my brain was starting to hurt.

The image is cut off at the top (words) can this be fixed?

I need more info. When you engraved? On your computer? Tons of people have made this. So I don’t think you mean the file. Let me know more and I’ll try to help.

Just wondering can this be done with engraved acrylic and use the infusible ink just for lettering on acrylic instead of metal. Not sure if this can be done.
@WellCraftedStudio3 жыл бұрын
Not super sure what your idea is, but if I understand what you’re asking- it sounds cool. But I don’t know for sure how it would work.

Where did you get the STAINLESS STEEL option for the materials list?
@WellCraftedStudio3 жыл бұрын
Hi Rose! I JUST sent you an email explaining this a little more. But it is a native Cricut material setting that you’ll only see if you have a Maker and if you hid your template. If you did not hide your template, have other actions other than engrave selected, or are using an Explore to engrave you will not see Stainless Steel as an option. Thanks for your question. A lot of people actually ask because they don’t see it either. But it’s always for one of those reasons. I hope that helps!
@rachellegebhardt86173 жыл бұрын
You could have selected both images and centered them would have placed on top perfectly aligned

Umm- yup! I actually came up with that technique for getting a deeper engraving and taught it to Jennifer M and others. That’s cool you’ve seen it too!

you are overheating it by quite a longtime by putting your press on it without setting the timer

Maybe! But I checked it a few times and had a sense for about how long it took. I might have just forgotten the timer too. I can’t really recall.
