FINALLY! I found your video. Have spent the last three days trying to figure out debossing on my new Cricut. Not much help on their website and few design downloads on that appealed to me. Thank you SO MUCH! -- Had to edit my comment after watching the entire video -- You have saved the life of my Crcut!!! I have done crafting for more years than I care to admit (turned 78 this year!) -- but this Cricut machine almost got the best of me! Not now -- and tomorrow, I'm going to use your video, step by step, and show this annoying cutting maching who's the boss!!! It doesn't know how close it was to the recycling truck on Monday!!! Thank you again! And, as reqested, I've liked the video and subscribed! Can't wait to watch your other tutorials! (Another note: I didn't find myself snapping out of a daze in the middle, thinking about what I'm going to cook for dinner like I do on so many "wandering" videos by other people!)

What about using old cereal box cardboard to make your embossing stencil from? That might be more durable especially if doing multiples of the same design
@cleversomeday Жыл бұрын
If the stencil is too thick, the paper will rip. Plastic poster board or magnet sheets cut well, work well for embossing and are durable, but expensive, so its a tradeoff to find the material that works best for your needs.

1. I don't have a cricut yet - I plan on getting one! I was just wondering, why you need a stencil/ template if the cricut has a deboss setting? (Why it couldn't just be straight on the card)- apologies if this is a silly question / it has already been answered! 2. Also, I was wondering Would you be able to emboss multiple sheets at a time if you put them on top of the template ? Or is that not possible as it would to be too thick. Thank you very much if you can answer my questions! Absolutely loved the video and how clear it was- I don't even have a cricut and I understood the majority so thank you!!
@cleversomeday3 жыл бұрын
At about 30 seconds, I show a comparison on the Cricut debossing with and without the stencil. You may be able to emboss 2 sheets at the same time, but my guess is the quality would deteriorate on the second one if not both. You could, however, set up a stencil with multiple copies and run multiples that way, saving prep time.

I have the maker and it came with what I think is an embossing tool but it does not have the same "casing" as the blades. It looks like a pen instead of being a tip. Do I use it the same way? I had thought it needed to be put in the other clamp? I've made exactly 2 cards with my maker so I may be trying to do something way beyond my skill level! Any suggestions? Am I way off base with the tool instead of the tip?

I loved your video! I have a couple questions 1) I bought the monogram font you linked too, but, cricut only recognizes the left initial, it wants to put all the initials on the left side. I'm working on a mac, is there something I'm suppose to do to get it to change to middle and right initial? 2) the offset doesn't work in the negative for me... idk what to do...
@cleversomeday2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Tammy. For most triple monogram fonts, left is uppercase, middle is lowercase and right is numbers/punctuation. You should have gotten a key file in the downloads folder from Craft Chameleon to show you what is what. The negative offset is very small so you might not see it working unless you finish and look at the layers panel. But if offset really isn't working you'll need to contact Cricut support about that.

do you think it would be possible to deboss on something that is printed out to give it like a letterpress look by using this technique? I guess maybe making the stencil, and then doing a print then deboss?
@cleversomeday3 жыл бұрын
You can do print then deboss without using a stencil at all. It would be just like print then cut, but with debossing instead of cutting. However, if you want flat areas in your debossing, I would start with the 2017 process since it already uses the print then cut idea.
