Omg I've just finished today to knit my very first vest (a completely DIY pattern that turned out strange but cute ). I just need to sew the front and back together (yes, I did It on straight needles, and I realized I need to buy circular ones asap 😂🙈) and you uploading this has just me feeling the current *vest mood* I'm in

Hey, I just have one question. I’m apparently knitting the vest using 3 colors and a check pattern just like the original pattern. I have to change colors every row and there’s a lot of threads I have to secure in place and attach. Is there an easier way to change color all of the time? It’s very time consuming and I’m just wondering if there’s a method that would save me some time. Love your vest btw!
@Rosa73883 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure what method you're using to secure your yarn, but I can recommend watching Roxanne Richardson's Stranded Colorwork series. She talks about and demonstrates various methods of securing yarn when working in fair aisle but it can apply to other types of projects where you switch colours. I found her videos quite helpful.

@well-loved knits - down the center how did you do the little v accent stitches in the body? Also, what cast off method do you recommend?
@BrittonS.2 жыл бұрын
I think the V stitches are regular knit stitches because the rest of the background is in purl stitches making them stand out. Also I personally use the German cast on and knit 2 tog cast off for anything that needs to be stretchy like rubbing and then for the neck I’d just go with a basic cast off

Hi! Just found your channel and patterns! Returning to knitting after awhile away (5 years or so)... you mention here that you sized down on the needles to work with the Paintbox bulky instead of 2 strands of Aran like in the pattern -- what should be the gauge for the new yarn? My daughter loves the look of this, i found some yarn that is 9 st=4" on sz 13, will it work the same? TIA for the help!
@BrittonS.2 жыл бұрын
Sizing down on the needles for the bigger yarn should make the gauge the same as the original and if she doesn't say the exact measurement in the video it is likely just to get people to buy the pattern on her etsy shop as it would have all of the specific details needed to make the sweater.

As a beginner I wanna say that I really don't like that u don't record full working process and also I really don't like when u miss explaining and showing how u did some patterns, for example in this video how did u and when did u add cables, maybe for experienced ppl ur videos r very useful, but for real beginners ur videos are not full and very hard to follow.
@BrittonS.2 жыл бұрын
She said at the beginning that this is her first time making cables so she can't explain it well enough for a video yet. Also her not being specific in the video gets people to go buy the written pattern to use with this video.
@tagqasim46682 жыл бұрын
@@BrittonS. I believe that ppl are entitled to voice their own opinions based on their own level of expertise and how any tutorials are useful for them or not without someone getting defensive and trying to silence them! It's about the usefulness of the content, and everyone is different. This video is most certainly not for beginners, and it's most definitely not a step-by-step diy at all, its more like a quick run down. Many people offer much more in-depth actual "tutoring" and how-to details that are helpful for viewers of all levels while still offering & selling the pattern, while others are extremely skimpy with details. And while it's their prerogative, it's equally viewers' own prerogative to voice the contents' usability for them. No offense to anyone.
@BrittonS.2 жыл бұрын
@@tagqasim4668 i didn’t say anything negative just that the video is vague on purpose so she can sell the pattern. I agree it isn’t a full step by step tutorial but it’s also not supposed to be. You’d be better of with free written patterns or KZbin videos if your a beginner. Or just buy her pattern and work it with the video as intended.
@GoldBlackLotus2 жыл бұрын
Because the video is supplementary to the pattern. You need to learn to read patterns if you want to make stuff like this.

Exactly. When it has "step-by-step" in the title, you'd expect a step-by-step tutorial... but I do understand that people want to sell their products.

Anything worked back and forth can be made on straight needles as long as it fits on them but it would be hard to do the neck and arm ribbing on straight needles as they are in the round. There's probably a tutorial for it somewhere.
