So true. You can work out the timing of something like this, with LOTS of practice. If I try to talk while I'm playing, forget it. His being able to narrate while playing just shows how his fingers are on auto pilot. My brain just doesn't have enough RAM.

@@gr8guitarplayer he does a lot of live loops too which I cant even fathom cause I can barely get a decent loop going with intense focus. Once you master a song, it becomes subconscious, you don't think about it. Likewise layering it together. The sad part is it then becomes automatic. You see a guitarist doing something great and they aren't even there. You move onto the next one, repeat. Try something completely different to have a bit of fun. One does have to put in the hundreds or thousands of hours to get there. You do well to study a curriculum to learn the instrument well, otherwise you stay pretty much the same.

My dad’s a musician and song writer. When I was seventeen my folks asked me what I wanted to do with myself and I said “music obviously”. They warmed me that music was quite hard and you had to have a certain personality type to get it done. So you might want to find yourself a back up they said. I’m now 32 with two degrees behind me and close to £100,000 student debt and I work as a therapist on the stroke wards - and I love it! But this feels like what might have happened if I said “na I don’t care if it’s hard, let’s have it!” Never too late though.

If you like this (which you obviously do) check out Ewan Dobson from Toronto. He's slightly eccentric, but his acoustic work is next level. He has lots of videos on YT.

I have watched it a whole lot too. He did a fantastic job. He certainly owned the song, but he misleads everyone into believing he wrote the song. I'd like to watch something he wrote.

nice. i notice he has to pick very quietly in order for those taps to seem at a similar volume level. I must say, he has nice control and a very fine sense of tempo. heheh the rock star ending. Dude also has a good sense of humor.

I bought my first electric acoustic for $380 a couple days ago and seeing the pure skill in this video will definitely keep me motivated.
