It's like saying demon slayer has better animation than studio ghibli films. It's just that the hype you get on a fight is much higher. If you look at episode 1015 the direction, Transictions and color usage was literally one of the best thing I've seen in my life.

@@DripJambe I disagree with you. purely because of the fact that marineford is a bad display of admiral level strength. if you tell me akainu, aokiji and kizaru can fight on this level back then, i'd probably say cap, because their fights there did not seem to reach this kind of heights. I know they are strong but marineford really doesn't display their power properly. (to say one shot is a bit of a stretch no? strength in one piece isn't linear anyways)

This finale is THE BEST FINALE OF A FIGHT in one piece history(animation wise). It's crazy that EVEN THIS FINALE will be OVERSHADOWED by luffy vs kaido's finale(G5 EPISODE MAINLY), that's how amazing toei's animating wano. For me, out of the monster trio so far...my fav finales are 1) Zoro vs King 2) Sanji vs Queen Although, in terms of OVERALL FIGHT 1) Sanji vs Queen 2) Zoro vs King Don't get mad at me, let's don't forget how mid zoro vs king was BEFORE 1062 while sanji vs queen even before 1061 was really good. The finale of zoro was better than the finale of sanji but overall, zoro vs king ain't as good as sanji vs queen. Even when we consider writing of the fight, sanji's fight is better. Regardless, 1061 AND 1062 ARE SOME OF THE BEST EPISODES OF ONE PIECE! GREAT JOB TOEI!

It's explained in Zorro's backstory here as well... Zorro is easily Captain level but that's not his ambition. He made a deal with Luffy all the way back then that he would make Luffy his captain and The Pirate King and that Luffy would help him become the Best Swordsman in the World by defending him. And he reinforced that after his defeat by Mihawk and of course even Mihawk saw this as welll. And Zorro has a history with Wano (as the only Japanese member of the crew).
