my period is back after a year and a half without it. From pregnancy, giving birth, and breastfeeding, plus having PCOS, I really had no idea when my cycle would return. But, she's back. And I have some mixed emotions.

About Sierra and Stephen IRL
Hey friends! I’m Sierra Schultzzie and this is my vlog channel with my husband, Stephen. We started vlogging 5 years ago to document planning our wedding and growing together as a young married couple, and the channel has now really become our passion project. We love creating travel vlogs, disneyland vlogs, showing behind the scenes of creating my fashion and lifestyle videos, and all the little ups and downs of our unfiltered, real life. We loved documenting our journey trying to concieve and getting pregnant, are now so happy to be sharing our experience as first time parents to our daughter, Grace.

Unsolicited information from a Speech-Language Pathologist: I can confirm that, while incredibly cute, Grace isn't using "dog" as a true first word just yet :) She's likely imitating you when you say "dog," which shows that she has amazing pre-word skills developing! A true first word will be spontaneous, clear, consistent, and initiated by Grace. You are so amazing at modeling language for Grace! She's going to be an amazing little communicator, I can already tell! P.S. Love you and your vids, adorable Grace content and beyond!

This is why I love this channel. Periods are so taboo which is ridiculous because they can completely affect every aspect of your life when you're on it and more than half the world's population have it at some point. It needs to be publicly talked about. I don't have kids, nor do I personally want kids, but I love watching your little family. You guys are such awesome parents!

Add a pair of black leggings and a white t shirt to each basket. You can order a 3 pack or each from Walmart for fairly low cost and if the whole outfit or part of the outfit needs to be changed, the pieces will go with anything she has on already. I do this for my daughter and it makes an outfit change or partial change so much easier.
@kates8183
@kates8183 2 жыл бұрын
I was coming here to say that. Even if only a slightly oversized t shirt in the parents containers. She can wear it with just a diaper as a "dress" if her clothes need to be changed beyond the back up clothes in her diaper bag.

I would even recommend a sleeper in a size up. Target Cloud Island ones are nice and thin for year round. It's ALWAYS nice to have a pair if you end up being out late or the original outfit gets messed up 🥰

I know sometimes when you're making food you mention it being boring because you make the same things a lot, but I love recognizing foods you make! Whenever you make your sweet potato veggie scramble or nutritional yeast green beans I get excited because those are such much Sierra staples to me. Plus it's so cute to see how you adapt your recipes for Grace!

The quest loaded taco flavor is amazing for walking tacos!! Also for the baby baskets I did something similar and I kept a laminated card with my kids basic medical informationk(allergies,medications or supplements,etc) in case of an emergency that they could grab and go and for my less experienced care givers I included quick emergency numbers/procedures cards like CPR visuals and such.

For clothes you could just put ones that are the next size up and not yet in "general circulation". They will do in a pinch and you can always roll up the legs/sleeves if too long and generally can get away with it especially until she starts walking. You might get bit more use out of those and most importantly don't reduce the amount of clothes you have available otherwise. Once Grace starts having water with meals I'd probably also ad baby cups to the basket if you're using some specific type. Also dreading the first postpartum period, haven't had one since May 2020 😬

Unsolicited advice from someone who had a postpartum period AND a post-op period after fibroid removal. Bust out the postpartum Always discreet adult diapers. Especially for nighttime. It's worth it. Mine came before I was cleared to use my menstrual cup or tampons. That first one back is WILD 😂❤️

Not sure if you anticipate using up the food products in the baskets quickly, but it might be worth it to put a reminder in your phone for when they expire so you can know when to use them by or switch them out. It would really suck to need/want them after a while and have them be past the “best by” date. (But I’m also super-paranoid about things like that, might just be me. 😅)

And for my period I find that, when I'm moving a lot, not at first but, I feel better than if I'd stayed in the couch or not doing much (it depends obviously on the pain and how strained you are but I find myself much better if I'm active and doing stuff than not moving and just reading or watching videos). For the baskets in grandparents, pack a vest top for you, I always found I'd get messy from the baby and need a change. Also pop in a toy in each unless there's a selection already there. I would say to include the things you will use most because you'll usually always have the diaper bag, plus you'll have your car most of the time with the car box inside. Having a place with lots of diapers will be a pain when she moves up sizes. Maybe one or two would suffice in each? Then you can bring more when they're used up.

A few tips for the cramping: 1) Thermacare Heat Wraps - they are sticky, one time use mini heating pads that are designed for your back, shoulders, neck, etc., but you can put them on your lower abdomen to help with the cramps, and you can walk around and do whatever you need to do while the heat is treating your pain. 2) A tens unit on a low setting is also really good for cramps.

I think you’re right on track for the grandparents’ baskets! I agree with some of the commenters about sizing up in clothes/diapers for a bit more longevity. For my parents, they have a kitchen cabinet for kid dishes that way my now toddler/little kid can go in and grab what they want (bowl for snack, sippy cup for water). We also do a swap, so if one kid gets dirty or has an accident we change their clothes and then my mom will wash the dirty stuff and leave it at their house for the next accident. If it’s a nicer piece of clothing we do take it back but it works well for undies, pants etc. We also just leave a pack of diapers there… we’re at the stage of not needing a big diaper bag (I used it less with each kid but that’s my style… living on the edge 😂) and it’s nice to have extras where we go most frequently (my parents house.

I would just be cautious about what foods your putting in the car basket! Especially ones that can melt, such as the yogurt bites and chocolate on the Kind bar. Living in California, I’m sure you have some hot days :) but I’m sure those things are easy to rotate out!

Something else good to have in your baby baskets for just in case, I’ve learned in my experience as my boys have gotten older, is to keep a little baby thermometer and either baby Motrin or baby Tylenol, whichever you feel more comfortable with, you never know when a fever is going to hit. I’ve had this happen many times and didn’t have anything. Also a little nose plunger bulb for just in case. Been caught many times with some stuffy nosed kids and it’s good to have one!

I keep a size up of clothes, an extra paci, and a toy or book as well as what you have at my parents place! It makes it a lot easier if I happened to forget something at home.

All of our family lives out of town so we have a high chair variation at our parents and grandparents house. They make foldable ones like the fold up chairs, or just the one that attaches to a chair. But we also have one that attaches to a counter or table and we love it for going to anyones house. You can keep it in the car and it comes in it’s own bag.

Stephen - you need to check yourself on what constitutes a 'word' with Ms Gracie. Lol 'D' for dog, which appears to be directed specifically at Bella and Bruiser, is huge. We had a friend whose daughter would pant at our dog whenever she saw her, and that counted too. I guess it's the difference between literacy and language, but she is already getting there! Very exciting.

I honestly would put an outfit in each, just something you wouldn’t miss. I always found it helpful in case the diaper leaked or if she drooled too much with teething, and of course if she was messy from eating. Outfits were always nice to have…even though you will have one in your diaper bag, it never hurts also have a backup in the basket for the grandparents house. Not to say you need to go out and get another outfit but it would be kinda cute to get onesies that say something include a cute quote about grandparents and let that be in their home baskets 👍

My daughter is OBSESSED with her “Are you a cow” book that I could literally recite it word for word if my life depended on it. It’s her favorite book. But a friend of mine said that they got that book for their son when he was a baby and that’s how he learned all his animals because he loved it so much too!

The first period after pregnancy and birth is a doosy, but they get better with each cycle. Also, the baby fever is a part of it too. I swear my first period after having my baby, I had a huge desire to have another baby even though I definitely don't want another baby yet. If you have that, it will pass.

I got my period back after 6 weeks with my first born (he’s only 4 months now). It definitely was not a fun period and it was a lot of spotting afterwards. I’m also exclusively breastfeeding so it’s super odd that I got it so quick but honestly my body off birth control is not a happy one so I’m not too surprised. I hope it gets easier as the months come ❤️

My nephews first word was also dog. Probably around the same age as Grace. I say it totally counts. She’s treating it and it seems likes she’s mimicking. So exciting!

We always had the back seat organizers filled with extra things so we wouldn’t forget anything while at someone else’s house. We just made sure to always have the things that could expire in the diaper bag so we could use it beforehand

I created a box that has extras in my car. I figure it will be then for whenever I might need it. I have also included snacks and extra clothes for myself, sunscreen, and bug spray. I’ve also included extra shoes for when they’re walking.

I just noticed that your target is much cooler than mine. We cant get produce at mine, we can get chips, ice cream and some frozen foods, but it's more of a clothing/homestore here in Perrysburg Ohio lol.

First, from those videos you showed, I’d 100% count dog as her first word haha (and I’m a speech language pathologist). It seems like she’s saying with some intention. Keep encouraging it like you are! Second, I think having some cups (open cup or straw cup or whatever kind of cup you’re using in those baskets!).

Glad your period is back hopefully it's a normal cycle but if it's not I have pcos too and if you can take a hormonal birth control pill it has helped me have a normal cycle every month so it can be something to bring up with your obgyn especially if you don't want to go pregnant right away again

I love all of your meals. You make a lot of stuff, I was wonder what all of your meals cost in a week. I am trying to find healthy food that isn’t too expensive since I am a single mom. Also besides quest chips, fruit and veggies, what do you eat to curb your snacking craving
