I actually really like that you guys don't compare artists to each other negatively, thank you for being mindful to not do that. One thing though is that for Beyonce and Taylor fan's many are (in varying degrees but still both lol), like me! I also really like that about Taylor- no matter who is performing she always shows love and/or respect to the artist. It seems like she's compassionate and empathizes with what it takes to perform in front of a big audience. The ending of this always gets me- so cute and such a wholesome beautiful moment (probably amongst much turbulence)

In previous interviews, Beyonce talked about Sasha Fierce (from the I Am Sasha Fierce album, I believe one of her most commercially successful albums) as a confident, sexy persona she dons when she's in performance mode. Self Titled began an era of stepping into that persona with a sense of mature ownership. There's actually an interesting relationship between her Renaissance song Church Girl and how she talks about Sasha Fierce. When she was younger she felt like she had to summon an alternate to embody sexiness, Self Titled is the beginning of Beyonce embodying those characteristics as herself and enjoy that side of her self, with out the veneer of a persona.

Let me clear up a few things for you: This performance took place in August 2014, towards the end of the "On the Run" tour, which ran from June to September of 2014. The "Mrs Carter Show" world tour was before this, and it ran from April 2013 to March 2014. The elevator incident happened in May 2014, during the Met Gala. After this MTV VMA performance, Beyonce didn't release another album until "Lemonade" in April 2016, followed by the "Formation World Tour", which ran from April 2016 to October 2016. Jay Z released his "4:44" album in 2017, then the two of them released a joint album, called "Everything is love", in June 2018. Hope this helps!!

The Mrs Carter tour ran from 2013 to early 2014.. She did the MTV performance and then OTR. OTR was both of them performing their different songs and a couple they've done together. The joint album was in 2018 after which they did another tour together OTR2. OTR2 comes after her homecoming performance in 2018 as well... She stays busy, that's for sure. And after OTR2 in 2018,she was in south Africa that same 2018 for the Global citizen show in honor of Mandela

Idk why people are saying incorrect information in the live chat that you guys did for this performance, but to clear up the confusion on where this performance is placed in the timeline of events: this VMA performance takes place two and half weeks prior to the OTR Concert in Paris that aired on HBO which is towards the end of the OTR tour because Paris was the last show. Post-Mrs. Carter World Tour, post-Elevator Gate, but during the tail end of the OTR tour in 2014. Bey and Jay toured together in the summer of 2014.

My theory is she did the Mrs carter world tour cuz the public didn't respond well to the first version of "Flawless"... it was just titled "Bow Down" and was much more grimey and notnthe empowerment anthem it is today. I think she pulled the release date back, reworked it, then did the surprise drop. Then they did ON The Tun together. Which was the best concert OF MY LIFE! / Then since OTR was received so well, the decided to work on an album together. But while they were in the album creation process, she was working they alot and thatsbwhen Jay said they should wait ont THE CARTERS, and she should work thru that - and that's how Lemonade was born. Abd everything Natahan asked, you will learn about her when you guys watch the Lemonade Visual album. 😉 and yall need to watch the Lemonade live performance AFTER the visual album. Just a thought.. maybe don't break up a show into 5/6 vids. You could be a little further along and be able to follow the journey alot better. Watching 1 show over 3/4 weeks is kinda draining. I KNOW that this is YOUR channeland do you do as you please, but most reaction channels do a show in 1 or 2 sittings, at the most.
