FEDERAL BUDGET 2025: “This country has no more visions!” CDU Secretary-General Carsten Linnemann
Business and trade unions have both praised and criticized the government's draft of the 2025 federal budget and the growth initiative, which is intended to boost the economy. The Federation of German Industries (BDI) demanded on Wednesday that the measures for more growth must be implemented quickly. However, the association expects only “marginal growth effects”.
The Confederation of German Employers (BDA) called the draft budget a “disappointment for all those who expected a growth stimulus”. Ten percent of federal expenditure alone would be spent on the citizens' allowance and the social budget would continue to rise: “That only says one thing: a high degree of obliviousness to the future.”
“The draft budget is more of a painting by numbers than a work of art,” explained IG Metall, Germany's largest trade union. The budget does not do justice to the challenges. IG Metall is working to ensure that “our idea of growth prevails” in the design of the key points of the growth initiative.
The opposition has also voiced harsh criticism. “This is simply crap,
to put it in German,” said CDU Secretary General Carsten Linnemann.
