Buses in San Francisco, CA (Volume Seven)

The seventh installation of buses in the San Francisco Bay Area, in the United States.
In this volume, we start at the temporary TransBay terminal in the early afternoon and PM peak period, with intercity Greyhound and BoltBus coaches and commuter coaches/buses, along with local MUNI bus services. The new TransBay terminal is well underway and scheduled to open next year.
Next comes Fort Mason, at various points. Van Ness and Bay, North Point and Polk, and Van Ness and Lombard.
Finally we see late AM and PM-peak bus services at San Rafael Transit Center, in Marin County.

I lived in the San Francisco Bay Area-specifically, Pleasanton and Concord-from Wednesday evening, March 29'th, 1989 until Friday evening, August 2'nd, 1996. I rode buses on the "Wheels" system-serving the East bay towns of Pleasanton, Dublin, and Livermore; "County Connection" serving the towns of Pleasanton, Dublin, San Ramon, Alamo, Danville, Walnut Creek, Pleasant Hill; Concord; North Concord; and Martinez. Also-AC Transit Routes 84 and 85 serving the Hayward and San Leandro BART train stations; the BART trains to the Bay Area towns of San Francisco, Daly City, Oakland, Fremont, Concord, North Concord, and Martinez-also Colma via the Route 110/112 Sam Trans buses. Seeing this online videos brings back many happy memories of riding the San Francisco Bay Area bus systems and the BART-Bay Area Regional Transit commuter trains! :)

see243 Perhaps, though the SC Metro already features in previous volumes because of the connection at Diridon. I try and focus on systems physically connected to others at the same location, for fleet diversity.

Welwyn22 In the Watsonville Transit Center south of Santa Cruz, Santa Cruz Metro, Monterey Salinas Transit, and Greyhound are there, though the station is Small. And there are 98 D40LF's 2002,2006,2008 C40LF'S 2010 C40LFRS and 2013 XN35'S and the C40LF'S are starting to retire.

I see your point, it's just that I used to live in watsonville and I've ridden in the SC Metro Buses, and I miss riding them. and I've never ridden in the LFR'S and XN35's and was surprised that some of the buses I've ridden in have been and are retiring. (sorry if I appear to be nagging.)

You are seeing inbound coaches in non-peak direction during the pm, before they pickup the rush hour crowd heading outbound. These clips are at the end of the line, by the Transbay Terminal, for equipment diversity--if you want to see packed, stacked, and racked, stand at Montgomery/Post and Market from 5:30 to 6:30 pm on the outbound side!

If San Francisco is expensive personified..... How much is the all day pass on muni buses.... $15.00 all day!.

A MUNI Passport is $47 for the week, which is what I've bought on trips to SF in 2016 and 2020. On Clipper that pass is $41.

We transit operators could give you a late night for 5 dollars before the new fare boxes, but it's simple to just put in 3 dollars for 3 roundtrips, each good for two hours, for a total of 9 hours riding time. Disbursement at concierge points around hotels and information centers may not result in information about how to validate the day pass, 3 day pass or 5 day pass. Upshot: pay as you go and have ones.

@@driverdoug2002 Our local bus system-DART-Des Moines Area Regional Transit-offers monthly express/local bus services passes for $58; and one-time rides for $1.75.

If you go for passports, you may be spending too much--best way is to have 3 crisp three dollar bills and pay as you go. The passports have the cost of the cable cars $7.00 built-in every day, and this really adds up. Just pay cash and carry on a clipper card purchased at a Walgreens.
