Quick tip: Ankylosaurs are amazing at mining rocks, obsidian, and metal. They produce way more of the stuff and significantly reduce its weight while they’re carrying it too. Just use their tail attack on any nodes you find.

@@watchmen617 Each of Ark's maps has a storyline, several summonable bosses, and what's essentially a final objective after that. It's why it works so well as a single player or purely co-op game, unlike rust. There's actually real goals. Additionally, the Genesis levels are even MORE like a standard game with objectives to get through. Personally, I really hope Welyn continues with Ark's free and paid DLC maps, because some of the stuff you find on them is absolutely amazing. They stopped sticking to JUST dinosaurs, so there's some stuff like mythological creatures, etc. found on them. It's great.

I love how you are so happy for taming super low level dinos. Also you can use the whistle system to for example tell your dinos to attack the target you're looking at. And for larger amounts of smaller predators I'd highly recommend some melee weapon like a sword or pike. Even a hatchet does decent damage and you don't waste ammo. Edit: "Monkeys meet their maker" I know where this is going.

Try messing with your tame's settings before taking them out! You should normally leave your dinos on passive, so you don't lose control of them. Especially important for fliers, as you almost never want them flying around without you on them. You can set "ignore group whistle". That way you could have whistled "attack target" without the quetzal attacking the rex too. You can also use tame groups, to whistle only a certain group of dinos at once.

*TAMED DINO MANAGEMENT* You can make keybindings to whistle surtain things. Regular bindings: j = all dinos follow me u = all dinos unfollow t = the dino beeing looked at "follow me" y = the dino beeing looked at "stop following me" Bindings i reccomend: N = Neutral P = Passive will make dealing with tamed dinos waaay easier.

As a long time ARK player, i love your new and excited attitude. My only advice for your next playthrough would be to set difficulty to 1.0, or max. So that the dinos are higher level, which will make your tames much stronger as a result. And also try to look for high levels instead of the first one you see

Tip: you can jump from the argy mid flight and use a grappling hook onto your argy, along with a parachute to stabilize your aim, then, use the "go to" command to follow the quetz around. On higher levels you can just use a net projectile from genesis and it gets stunned for a minute.

Pro tip. Since porgie has insane movement speed. Let him agro dinos u want to tame. I believe after 150% they will be slower then u and at porgies speed... hehe Allso if u use doorframes like 4x4 foundations with just the doorframes as sides, 2/4 high and like stairs they will walk inside and be trapped. Orr.. 4 behe gates. Big big gateys for ur gigas/rexes.. Having difficulties with a flyer as like an owl, argentavis etc? Place 4 dinogates with doors, walk in and close the first and last one and they are trapped. Hope u enjoy ark as much as all of us did

The first time I played ARK was with my brother waaay back in 2016 on the Xbox One. We had a designated hunting valley with trikes, Parasaurs, Dilos, and very early game dinos. The Terizinosaur was there also, and we immediately did NOT want to fight him. My bro was hit to near DEATH in a few swipes. We make some spikes near the hunting zone, and we found Big Bird attacking the spikes. We shot our shot and managed to kill the birb. We still honor that victory to this day lol

Pro tip: tickle chickens have one of the highest melee damage per swing of the entire game. And a fast attack speed. Also, there is really no point in taming low level dinos once you get a few basic dinos. Taming a level 10 versus a max level 150 is only a matter of more arrows/darts and more food. Been playing this game with friends since early access, and started over many times on public and private server wipes. Even when we don't have a single dino and are going for our first (a ptera) we run the beach until we find something at least 135 or above (official servers dino levels are in increments of 5). Thirdly: the favored early-game way to knock out a quetzal is to have someone fly a ptera behind it while a second player is in the ptera's talons and shooting the quetz.

or do it solo, grapple your bird and command it to move / attack your target, then tell it to stop. you can effectively fly your bird while grappled to it, tranqing quetz.

Both facts! thats how i did it when noone was online and i had to tame one due the colors it had on a event. Never go below 135. Not worth it and oh boy id love to see welyn on a mutline getting it to negative lol

Just eat rare flowers and the passives will attack you. Use it for Taps and Quetz.

Argies can pick up thylos also medium size dinos then you can put them in a trap to tame. You can also whistle tames passive while your doing things to stop them from attacking. Argies are also portable smithing tables. Tame whatever you want but best improving Dino stats are 120+. Red ringed drops are best. Also caving drops can get you way better armor bps.
