Wow! I love that you are bringing your daughter on such a wonderful expedition. She will remember trips like this, with her dad, forever. My dad would take my brother and me on trips like this in the wilderness. I'm heading out tomorrow to do this same route, so just looking at videos and found yours! Cheers.

@@saracalvin9173 hope you have a good time !! It’s has incredible scenery once you reach the first lake. Was quite a struggle for us to hike up to emerald Lake, but It levels out for quite a while once you reach the lake. Stay safe !! Thanks checking out our trip!

Hiked a 5 day trip in the Weminuche wilderness on a Sierra Club trip in the early 80's, it is beautiful! Thank you for sharing. Took my teens on a camping trip in Rocky Mountain National Park in 2002 and they said "what are we supposed to do" regarding the lack of technology. They worked it out eventually.

We do end up spending more time in the tent than we probably should (mostly to stay away from bugs), and usually do end up using tech to watch downloaded movies on our phone, but this time we did a lot of pencil games. It was nice because it forced us to talk a little more to each other. Glad you like the video. Thanks for watching!

Absolutely a wonderful place to explore. So many great views of the mountains, trees and natural green landscapes. Also, lovely lakes and fast running stream. Thanks for sharing this very beautiful and peaceful backpacking trip. Have a great day Michael.

I’m glad you enjoyed the video. It’s an incredible place. Every hike I’ve done in that wilderness has somehow been totally different than the other hikes. Thanks again for watching!

It rains everyday in the mountains ⛰ I ❤ the nuche Thx for sharing your video 😁 Goes from sunny to rain to hail to sleet to gropple snow and back to sunny in an hour sometimes. 🤣

We were really fortunate w the little bit of rain we ended up seeing. All of it was early morning, and lasted less that an hour each time. The rest of the time the weather was as good as we could’ve asked for. Thanks for checking out our adventure!!!

We had a great time ! I’m not sure if it was the perfect time of day, or the fact that we were so tired, or possibly that we were incredibly hungry, but something made the scenery at moon lake unforgettable. I’ve been a lot of places, but that day, moon lake was in the competition for “most beautiful place” that I’ve ever been. Thanks for watching

Oh my word!! How epic! Absolutely gorgeous! I'd have had his and his of footage and a 45 min video bc i wouldn't be able to shut the camera off or cut anything in editing!! Jo is a trooper! Well done! I would totally think it was worth it!!

It is hard to decide what video to use , and what to get rid of. Everything is beautiful, and the same mountain looks different as the light changes. Jo is becoming quite the hiker. We were both pretty tired and not quite sure if the walk up to moon lake was even going to be worth it , it was jo that said “ we’ll we’re this close , we might as well go on” . Thanks for watching !

We only made it to moon lake because of Joanna’s bullheadedness! I was ready to turn around until she said “ well if we’re this close we might as well go on up”. It was worth it ! Thanks for watching!

Beautiful trip, Michael. It’s great to see y’all in the Weminuche. I’ve got a 6 day loop trip there first week in September.

Looks like we’ll be back out there near the end of September/first of October? I’ve been there 5 times now…. Every time, every area has looked different than the other areas. Out of curiosity….. are you doing the loop through elk creek and Chicago basin?
@tangenttrails
@tangenttrails Жыл бұрын
@@michaelpetersonbackpacking6077 It’s a very diverse area for sure. I’ll be doing the loop in reverse from how most do it. Getting off the train at Needleton and finishing at Molas Pass where I have a ride that will take me back to Durango. About 43 miles unless I decide to checkout a few peaks above Chicago Basin which would depend on the weather.

Another great trip! I prefer the Rockies over the Smokies. Just my humble opinion.

I’ve said for a long time “ I don’t care if I ever see the smokies again” but I’d never say that about the Rockies. Especially the San Juan area.
