You know what I realized? The Rolling Giant is the closest thing to a creepypasta monster I've seen in ages. Wyatt'a story could have been posted to a forum a decade ago and it would fit right in. I just think that's cool. Also Kane, Alex, and Wendigoon are the most chaotic trio of creators I've seen since 2020-2021.

Honestly, it makes more sense that the rolling giant was just trying to socialize as he was stuck down there, forgotten after his use. He never attacks Wyatt even if he's right in front of him. The giant chases him down desperate for companionship. That's why at the start he was getting close to Wyatt only when Wyatt wasn't running away but then the giant realized he was trying to escape. He really only attacks when the guy is at the exit, but really it was to take the exit away rather than Wyatt's life. It's a statue made after a botanist anyways smh. Rolling giant was just misinterpreted :( Maybe.. the giant was actually needing a hug.
@pixwool

The fact that the rolling giant was toying with him the entire time was terrifying to me. It acted like it could only move when not looked at, then it didn’t, it acted like stairs were safe, then they weren’t. It acted like it had to stay on its roller. Then it didn’t. Wyatt had no chance, it was toying with him the entire time, and now that thing is out in the world. Whatever it is, it’s not a paper giant.

Honestly the way that the camera man went in two times and was able to leave, but the third time, when he realized something was very wrong, his way out was closed, reminds me very much of Coraline. The first two nights she’s able to fall asleep and go back to her world, but on the third night, after she’s asked to sew buttons into her eyes, she’s no longer able to leave the same way. It’s so horrifying, the logic of this world flipped on its head. It’s truly the worst feeling.

Whats scarier is when you realize that the mall and the giant (if they arent the same entity controlling both) were just toying with him till the very end. It never took the chase seriously. It only trapped the guy when he was comfortable enough to keep exploring, when Wyatt realized it was a trap was when it decided to block the entrance. It contantly gave Wyatt a sense of security only to take it away. From making Wyatt think he was safe at the stairs, to the very end when the whole thing only broke when he was *just* about to reach it. It wasnt trying to just kill Wyatt. It was toying with him, it was intentionally malicious and we still dont know wtf it truly wanted

I went to the AMC there for a few years. I literally saw soul surfer there when I was like 8. I remember walking through the manakins with the tarps over them. I had nightmares about it for a year. Now it’s in an analog horror series and a great one at that. I don’t think I’ve ever felt this terrified in a form of media. In my life. I don’t think I’m ever going to because it feels so personally catered to me. I am never sleeping again.

that's really why analogue horror (and i mean the actually good series) are so effective: they can make horror really personal. something like the mandela catalogue is already pretty spooky and disturbing, but if you're religious or christian? then the horror of it becomes 10x scarier than it was before. it has stabbed it's hooks into something personal.

After learning about its origin and life I did kind of start to feel more sympathy than fright. Started to get that same sad nostalgic "purple feeling" about that mall that now only exists in this video

This video was already skin crawling as it was, but the fact that Kane not only based this on an actual abandoned mall, but the titular monster is based off a legit statue that scared him? That sends it from skin crawling to just downright terrifying. I’m totally with Iceberg Boy when the statue was revealed in the tour video, that was freaking scary!

There's a sense of tragedy when you see how elaborate and alive malls were at one point in life and seeing so many of them turn into husks of what they once were leaves a melancholic feeling inside me like a piece of what once was now is no more and we'll never have that specific feeling again There's still plenty of malls around left but they just dont feel the same

My favourite mall as a kid was like that. It was usually empty and that's what I loved about it as I have social anxiety but it had everything you needed a mall. It was my favourite. But they remade so that now its not really a mall its just shops close by each other but you cant go inside the mall anymore except for the 'food court'.

Funny enough, the mall that I grew up in is still around and is successful since it serves a large area...however compared to 20+ years ago when I was a kid, now all the stores are unrecognizable to me...they remodeled it and now it looks very...sterile. It used to have a merry-go-round and a full blown arcade...both are gone.

malls didn't just die, they were killed. I don't feel comfortable in them after that guy dropped a young child off a balcony. being in crowds of strangers isn't worth it anymore

the whole long compliment Wendigoon goes on at about 1:25:10 is what every artist hopes to hear at some point in their life, like, everyone wants to hear that compliment that they are exactly where they belong and are on the right track to do amazing. Like that is the highest honor, and i absolutely agree with Wendigoon, Kane is absolutely one of the most skilled special effects artists and storytellers ive seen in the online space. He's going to make some fantastic work and im so excited to see. He should absolutely be so proud of everything he has created. I only hope i can one day can also earn that compliment for my own art

iceberg boy is right, it's the dread that's getting you with this.. like the build up is SO strong that i had to repeatedly pause solely due to the dread of just seeing the giant, that's such a powerful thing, Kane has such a strong grip of the possibility of mortal dread and terror
