What a great conversation! Thank you for sharing this video. The insights you share can help cellists of any level as they prepare for auditions. I found this vid on a practice break after getting frustrated practicing excerpts. I feel more centered, capable and relaxed after watching this. Nerves and competition are tough, even if you’re well prepared. I’m ready to get back to work and play from a place of joy rather than worry about what-ifs and minute imperfections. Cheers!

@@WendyLaw your welcome and I enjoy it watch your cellist 😊
Goodness no, please do not use beta blockers. There are different beta blockers and each have different times of onset, durations, half-lives, etc. That said, once the nerves go down, how much of the drug do you still have left in your system? Do not cause yourself any undue fatigue and/or bradycardia as a result. Mastery of your nervous system is key for any performance discipline. Self-medicating is not the answer.

@@WendyLaw Thank you for posting this video. You two are masters of your craft, keep up the great work! Also, love the ‘clean’ sound you achieved in the shower. Only the best prop cellos will do! 😂 I shudder at the thought of someone actually exposing these instruments to moisture... 😖
