Wera Kraftform Kompakt 60 review
A nice compact set for most needs. The soft pouch is nice and the bits have not fallen out on me. Belt loop is fine for having it there and unfolded down if you are up a ladder for example but I've used it from a table top or floor myself. Tiny bit of play in screw heads and the driver head has some play although it never effected my use of it. All in a decent set although it needs a few more flat heads, the hex plus are a nice addition.

Welcome to the channel and thank you for the very kind comments here mate. I just try to keep it real and honest and make sure I get as much detail as possible so anyone looking at an item knows exactly what its like. Hi to you in beautiful Canada i hope you have a great day, I spent the weekend breaking drill bits in stainless steel! which was laborious.

From Canada as well . Also just subscribed. Just picked up this kit today with the Robertson drives in it . Slowly changing all my hand tool to wera . Bought my local Canadian tire almost out of what they have

Again, an awesome vid from you. To the point, nice detailed camera. It’s a shame that you have so few subscribers. Keep on the good work :) Wera does nice tools, I just purchased the Wera 6004 Joker XL - adjustable Wrench, for rusted nuts in cars which have less diameter than initial. For example initially a 16mm nut, shrinked by rusting to 15.5mm. Almost impossible to loosen it with a 16mm wrench, especially when when it needs high torque.

Cheers mate, I try to make videos id want to watch myself, so plenty of up close stuff and 4k at the highest bitrate settings with HDR if I can have that also. I think when it comes to subscriber numbers I don't use clickbait titles like "You WONT believe what my screwdriver does!" Also I never ask for likes or subscribers as I find all that a bit annoying and time wasting. Id rather have a smaller number of viewers who are all here to relax and enjoy good honest content and also help each other out in the comments section. It feels like a nice helpful club that way. Can you let me know how you find the joker I don't have any of the jokers but they look really good I had looked at some Gedore stuff but the joker ones look much better. I'm a bit of a Knippex fan but Wera seems to make up the majority of my tool boxes and kits I have at home and work. Cheers for the comments mate its always nice to know a video was helpful and enjoyable. Have a great day.

@@TrailTrek finally had my first encounter to use the joker. It worked better than expected. In the past I used the knipex pliers wrench for similar scenarios at my car, but this was a PITA in tight spaces and big forces, because you actively need to press the handles. And when you forget it, it slips of the nut pretty easy. That worked significant better with the joker. It’s weak spring (which closes the wrench) is enough to hold it a little in place and NOT constantly slipping off, when you forget to compress it for 200ms. Applying force (i guess around 60Nm) was also much more pleasant than the knipex pliers wrench. I guess you know project farm. He has a video with variable wrenches, somewhere in the middle the joker appears.

Thanks, let me know what you think of them. I used them this weekend to work on a vacuum cleaner head section. Open the front of a brother sewing machine and take some old screws out of an old wooden wall mount when I was fitting a new doorbell for a relative. I found them spot on. I just wish they added a few more flat heads maybe.

Wiha centrofix 76000 bit holder holds E6, C6, japanese power bits(similar to E6 but larger anvil), and double sided bits with no play at all. Would be nice to have the 76000 instead of this wera tiny bit holder

That's a nice compact set, I think I'd prefer a set like this rather than the bits being contained in the handle although I am a sucker for individual single drivers which clutter up my toolbox lol. I agree about the velcro, maybe initial use would be ok but I don't think I'd trust it long term .

I love my kk20 with the bits in the handle but I used this set for three things this weekend and it didn't disappoint. Both have their advantages I suppose. I liked having this hanging on my belt when I didn't want stuff all over the floor outside.

Hi. Nice review. Quick question, since they are made of alloy steal, i heard wera tools rust a lot compared to chrome vanadium tools by other brands. Did your set have any signs of rust?
@TrailTrek
@TrailTrek 3 ай бұрын
So here is what I would say. Chromed tools have that barrier and so they don't suffer in high humidity and damp wet conditions. So the question is does the Wera non chormed stuff rust. Mine don't but I keep them in the house rather than a damp garage or shed so I can only say from how I keep them. I have left a few sets and tools from Wera out at work but again its not really punishing them and zero tools have any rust on them. So it depends where you live and were you store the tools. I have always stuck a bit of Balistol on anything high carbon or non stainless and never had any issues. Anything from Knipex which is chromed is bullet proof, although ive had a few chromed finishes from Klein crack which is annoying. I hope this answer is actually helpful, if not let me know a bit more info on who you will store and use your tools. If you work in marine environment then you absolutely need tools with coatings there is no way around that in my humble opinion.

Sure it's an old review but still, I can't remember holding a Wera that is more modern, but I have other tools that are that soft that you wish Wera had, at the same time I understand you, but if you get oil or grease on it your effed! Maybe even leaving it in the sun might cause it to get snot like. There's no way to remove it really, unless you go to the other layers. I am especially out after this kit with extended length because I disassemble a lot of electronics and there's always a few fasteners that is sitting deeper, and then the other screwdriver you have in this video is too shot because the extension hit the chassis of the electronic device I am disassembling. Really annoying, but that's what the manufacturers know! But are these long bits compatible with impact drivers? I mean, are they hardened so they survive it? Another thing I find quite annoying is the nr 27 of Torx that I heard is a American size, but many manufacturers of building screws are using it. EDIT: I just noticed that Wera has a very similar kit I think is called 62 instead which has the nr 8 Torx, but also nr 40 as well as nr 27 I complained about being absent. This kit is for sure specially made for electric device disassembly since they also include 3 of the "871/4 TORQ-SET Mplus Bits" as well as 4 of the "875/4 TRI-WING Bits" and 4 of the "857/4 Z Spanner-bits". I will for sure buy this one! I also like it a lot when tools are made in that satin finish, because when you have a lot of tools laying around the light from lamps can reflect on chrome vanadium tools which is really annoying as well, but that is mainly block keys that are bigger that causes me that problem. I know what you mean when you say that it might seem silly that you complain on some small details, but I totally get it, without those small annoying details there wouldn't have been any better tool. Also, when they are so much more expensive than the kinda of "no name" crap that do exist, for like the individual that only needs it to fasten a screw in their home once, it of course a whole other thing. Sometimes I ask myself if the company that manufacture or sell a certain product or service ever tried it themselves... I do love Wera's tools and they think a lot further than most brands, but in general it is a red thread through German engineering and brands. Knipex is another one that is a must in your toolbox. 🤘

I've never even heard of hex plus before. Have you heard of Metrinch? They make sockets and spanners which grip the sides of nuts rather than the corners. I've had a set for years and they are amazing, less picky because of it as well, same sockets do metric and imperial because it's gripping the sides it's not as sensitive to the exact right size. I know some mechanics have some they just used on rounded nuts, but I used to round nuts occasionally, especially under high torque, but with these ones I've never rounded one at all. I've found very few people have heard of them, but they are amazing
@TrailTrek
@TrailTrek 2 жыл бұрын
Count me into that group I had never heard of these and I like the idea behind them. How about their robustness? I expect it's very high if mechanics use them. I wonder why they aren't more prominent in the market place, maybe the mass market just wants whatever is cheapest?
@JOZZIE52
@JOZZIE52 2 жыл бұрын
@@TrailTrek they are super durable, because they have big rounded chunks touching the side of the bolt or nut head and they just don't round things mine don't even really have wear like a regular socket would. I've got their sockets and would love to get their spanners, they have the bottom corners removed from the spanners to allow them to grip the hex. I'll send you some pics on discord so it makes more sense

I really like the extendable feature on the bigger handle. You could always combine the best bits from each kit to create a setup that suits you. Usually you get more flathead drivers instead of the drivers you use most often. I have dedicated single handles for many different bit types, mini screwdrivers to socket bits for larger sizes on a car or appliance. Thanks for reviewing these sets my friend. 👍

I've been looking at a Felo ratcheting one which looks well made. It's the ergonic k model. www.felo.com/en/innovations/ergonic-k.html What do you think?
@junglejim13660
@junglejim13660 2 жыл бұрын
@@TrailTrek I have something similar but a longer shaft to hold the bits. The Felo is better quality especially the bit holder. It depends on what you plan on using this holder for, I have mine as a back-up since I have many different types of bits, ratchets and socket holders of many sizes. I've had this similar tool 10 years now and rarely ever use it unless I really need to torque down a screw or bolt and I'm away from my main toolboxes. I find myself using the traditional bit holder on a 7 inch handle with a magnetic tip most of the time. I have 1/4 inch ratchet sets if I need more versatility or torque. Working around the house and computers, your Wera handles should be fine, if torque is needed, then add it to your collection.
@TrailTrek
@TrailTrek 2 жыл бұрын
Good points I might get the Hazet 810r instead. It stores bits and has a smoother ratchet. Probably takes less nm of torque but I'm not working on engines here.

Recently got the Wiha CentroFix handle and the Wiha 7 double ended bit stubby handle, which are simply amazing, and now got this Wera set.... I mean, sorry, but the wobble I have on the Wera handle is just garbage tier. I couldn't tell if it's worse than what you had but boy is it awful in comparison.

Yea the whole head play thing is less of a big deal than I think people make it out to be. My wera has some play and it’s literally never impeded my work. You take out your driver, slap in the bit, screw in or out your fastener and keep it moving. I’m also not a big tool person. I use my wera kk 60 in a sling pack when I’m patrol. There have been times in my unit where I’ll need a screw driver. I wanted something good so I went with wera. I take it out when I need, use it and boom that’s it. I see a lot of people worry about movement but maybe it affects guys who are in specific jobs? I don’t know enough about it I guess
@TrailTrek
@TrailTrek Жыл бұрын
Of course you are right, and I have the Wera on my windowsill next to my desk at work it works very well. When I'm reviewing tools I am actively looking for things, and play in a tool is suggestive of less tight tolerances which is linked to cheaper made tools. We both know that a bit of wobble wont stop a screw turning but there are many who will want to know about this before they buy. Thanks so much for sharing real world usage of the Wera, I prize real world feedback like this so much. Its not until you use a tool for a job for a while that you find out if its great or not. I like my Wera stuff, I was on the floor today at work using the Wera hex set on electronics and worked a charm. Good kit.

@@TrailTrek Yea that’s very true. The only think is my kk 60 is the stainless version. I’m pretty sure it’s the same thing. The only issue for me is while some guys wish it was bigger I could have gone with even slimmer. The whole case with the long bits adds weight to my back and on top of that I carry a small set of security anti tamper bits, a Knipex twin key, optics, door busting tools. It’s already a lot. Sometimes I feel like it’s overkill

Sorry for late reply but KZbin is abysmal at telling me i have replies ive just spent an hour going through every message here looking for ones ive not been told about :-( We both know if its overkill it means its going to save your ass one time when you need just the right tool. I hate not having the right tool for the job its miserable. are the ani tamper bits 4mm or the full quarter inch?

As far as I'm aware, the long bits aren't impact rated I've had them in a drill driver but dare not bung them in the impact.
@TrailTrek
@TrailTrek 2 жыл бұрын
I agree I wouldn't stick these in my impact. They can go in my drill but I already have a few sets of still bits for that. I've been trying a few of the sabercut impact bits. I was really worried they would be useless as they are much cheaper but so far I've not had one crack or round off. Still early days though.

There are lack of Robertson and Ph/Slot (combination bits). Also, all bits from this set don’t have Wera laser tips.
@TrailTrek
@TrailTrek Жыл бұрын
I don't see Robertson ever where I live but if you live in america I guess that yet another bit you need to carry. I generally only see the laser tips on the more expensive sets so maybe one day they will do a more expensive one with the Laser tips for slightly better grip. This set has no combo heads you are right, I see them in electrical cabinets but I always end up just using a slot or Philips vde driver in my bag. I wonder if Wera thought only VDE drivers would ever be needed for slotted stuff so didnt include them? Not sure.
