I have the same ratchet. Nice ratchet but it started skipping on me and the switch started sticking good luck getting it warranted .I tried and they told me it was normal wear and tear. It’s too bad when you can go to Harbor freight and break a ratchet all day long and get it replaced but you spend $70 and you can’t get it replaced or fixed

I love the German tools but will never bad mouth Craftsman USA. At least the 30 year old raised panel can be greased or rebuilt. I can only hope Stanley can bring some back to the USA but I’m not holding my breath.

Hey Mike, Thanks for posting. Wondering how you are getting along with this Wera ratchet now that you had some experience using it? Have you bought and used any other of their ratchets or wrenches? Thanks!

I would definitely pick up one of the zyklop speed ratchets. I am always finding myself using it because it can also become a screwdriver. Good questions about servicing that ratchet. I know the speed ratchets have replaceable head kits you can buy but I'm not sure about that type.

+German Tool Reviews probably In the next few months I'll get the 3/8 speed ratchet. I have a couple other ones in line before that

From WERA they do not recommend anyone trying to do user service on the zyklop ratchets. The speed ratchet is user serviceable and they sell parts for it

Hey Mike, if you're looking for a 1/4 bit driver ratchet Wera makes a nice one. Model 8001 A - it's 60 tooth and tiny, but also seems well put together. It's held up well for me so far.
@user-ks5ff7 жыл бұрын
I've got one, the mechanism is stronger than a full size 1/4 bluepoint ratchet, I've put twice the pressure on it than my old BP 1/4 without it slipping.

You might be able to force a thin metal sheet into the larger diameter, like a ring compressor, and find that an internal snap ring is holding it. Otherwise, just drive the assembly out the big end and see what was holding it, then tell us so we don't break ours.

I’ve been trying to find a way to service this ratchet....ratchets always work better with a bit of extra grease in them. This could be a ‘sealed system’.

Wera are now firmly on my prefered tools shopping list. I just got the 3/8" drive ratchet and it's a honey, easily upto Snap-On standards. The only thing I can think of to criticise is the matt finish marks up easily. Some may not be concerned about that but it annoys me slightly, I am on the OCD spectrum though!
@MikesToolShed7 жыл бұрын
+turboslag other than not being serviceable, that is one of the best ratchets I own

Tools are meant to be used, not looked at. I like when they look "Boba Fett" If anything, I agree the serviceability is a minus. However, the more skookum Wera pivoting head speed ratchet ARE serviceable. The repair kit is only $20 and comes with a whole new head, hardware and even the hex tool.

Good lord 48 bucks- Check out USA made Wright Tool and S&K ratchets mike, geez. Even high quality imported gearwrech. Hex and screwdrivers are great from Wera, but Geez come on. S&K invented the fine tooth ratchet more than 50yrs ago and was light years ahead of clunky,1/4 as many teeth, snap on/mac/matco/craftsmen. Today those guys all have both versions now clunky and fine tooth.

This is why our president has a problem with these horrible trade deals for the usa. Its the same way for USA goods going into europe from what i have been told by europeans.
