2023 and its still as good when it came out in the 90s. Years later and the lyrics hit you differently now that you're older listening to this. 😢 💔 what you thought was unbearable as a young teenager was actually nothing compared to what was a head for you. You thought you knew everything back than when in reality you didn't know crap. Nexts thing you know your 42

Thank god for parents that listened to rock music, I'm so blessed for parents that listened to bands like Ozzy Osbourne, Dokken, Iron Maiden. It opened the door for bands like Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Nirvana, Bush, and so many other bands that dominated the 70s though the 90s. I can't thank my parents enough. Without this kind of music I wouldn't be alive nowadays. I've gone through some bad times and rock got me through depression. I feel bad for the people that don't listen to rock, they are missing out.

+Ethan Morris Uhh yeah kinda but not really. The Beatles, The Stones, The Who, etc. paved the way for rock and most of the bands you just named, the pixies paved the way for nirvana heavily actually, and heavy rock itself was it's own sub-genre that took inspiration from others. They paved the way for other heavy bands like Metallica or Disturbed, but punk was what paved the way for the bands you just named. Grunge is a little metal but a lot more punk when you hear the message. All in all rock fucking rules, but if you wanna say grunge takes a lot from metal, well I gotta say your wrong. Maybe instrumentally slightly, but honestly it's so much more punk than metal.
@soskul4429 жыл бұрын
+Tristan Kennedy Yeah I agree that grunge is more from punk, but it really depends on the band/song. Nirvana for example - some of their songs are super chill; Polly, About a girl, etc. Then some super heavy-metal-sounding songs; Lithium, Heart-shaped box, etc. Same with some other bands.

It is about Heroin, it doesn't mean you can't find your own meaning in the lyrics though. In general though it's the same theme, Heroin boosts you to bliss than drops you hard to the ground very similar to the ups and downs of depression. Sad stuff

Born in '86, so I grew up with my parents introducing me to Beatles, Zeppelin, the Animals, CCR, and then I remember when GnR, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Bush, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Green Day, etc, back when there was Rock stations and there wasnt this prevalent, absurd paranoia about being mainstream. Then Woodstock 99 showcased a lot of the bands that was my generation. So I'd being an 80s baby was the best for rock exposure.

This song takes me back to the days when I used to hang out at the go cart track with all my friends around 96 and 97. We didn't care that the world was on its way to going down the shitter because it was our time back then.

it is a song that I depend on to keep me on the path of righteousness it has strong meaning to those that fell and are rising to seek and seize their glory for I have fallen but my rise to glory will defy me its not how I fell that defies me for those that judge on the fall they do not know redemption redemption is grace

When I was 15 (last year) I was at a park with a few friends getting drunk at 2am. At one point I was hanging upside down on the jungle gym screaming the lyrics to this song. The cops came, and instead of calling our parents and giving us a ticket for disturbing the peace and underaged drinking, they let us off with a warning because they liked this song.
